University colleges are run to train professional workers. Therefore, vocational education is more important and the length of classes is relatively shorter than general universities. For this reason, the liberal arts education of university colleges has mainly performed the functions of basic majors, not independent ones. But the entry into the era of the 4th industrial revolution and rapid reduction of the school age population are progresses, not only practical subjects but also universal liberal educations that to foster healthy personality based on self-understand and selfesteem are needed. This study suggests self-reflective writing as a subject capable of performing these functions. And also confirmed that this self-reflective writing actually had a positive effects on the improvement of self-esteem among students. In conclusion, this study suggested that along with the practical education, the liberal arts education of university colleges should also provide a curriculum that enables deep understanding and reflection of human life and to develop the qualities of good citizen.

전문직업인의 양성을 목적으로 운영되는 전문대학은 일반대학에 비해 실무중심 현장형 교육 이 중시되고 수업연한이 상대적으로 짧다. 이런 연유로 전문대학의 교양교과는 독립된 교과가 아 닌 기초전공 성격의 기능을 주로 수행해왔다. 그러나 4차 산업혁명시대로의 진입과 학령인구 감 소와 같은 변화가 빠르게 진행되면서 실용중심의 교과 외에도 자기이해와 존중에 기반한 건강한 인성을 함양할 수 있는 보편적 교양교과의 필요성이 증대된다. 본 연구는 이런 기능을 수행할 수 있는 교과로 성찰적 글쓰기를 제안하고, 이 과정이 전문대 재학생들의 자아존중감 향상에 실제 긍정적 영향을 미쳤음을 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구는 전문대학 교양이 실무위주의 교 과와 더불어 인간의 삶에 대한 깊은 이해와 성찰을 가능케 하고 훌륭한 시민의 자질을 갖춰나가 게 만드는 보편적 교양교과의 확대 또한 필요함을 제안하였다.
