Historically, social welfare has developed in response to rapidly changing environmental needs, and each time it has been requested to develop educational content and curriculum that can meet the needs of social welfare practice. Today, the world of higher education is changing from a mere knowledge transfer to a competency-based education that can be applied in the field. This situation is also urging Korean social welfare education change to be changed. Therefore, there is a growing need for competency-based education in the Department of Social Welfare, which regulates practical skills needed in the field and nurtures social workers with competencies. The purpose of this study is to analyze the process and contents of developed competency-based curriculum in advanced countries such as the US, UK and Germany, and to give meaningful implications to Korea’s social welfare education.

역사적으로 사회복지는 급변하는 환경의 요구에 발맞춰 발전해 왔고, 그때마다 사회복지실천현장의 요구 를 충족시킬 수 있는 교육내용 및 교육과정의 개발을 요청받아 왔다. 현재 세계적으로 고등교육현장은 단순한 지식전달 수준을 넘어서 현장에서 적용이 가능한 역량중심의 교육으로 변화하고 있다. 이러한 상 황은 한국의 사회복지교육에도 변화를 촉구하고 있다. 따라서 현장에서 필요로 하는 실천 역량을 규정 하고, 그 역량을 갖춘 사회복지사를 양성하는 사회복지학과의 역량기반 교육의 필요성이 커지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 미국, 영국, 독일 등 사회복지 선진 국가들이 역량기반 교육과정을 개발해온 과정과 내 용을 살펴보고 분석하여 우리나라의 사회복지 교육에 함의를 도출하고자 한다.
