The purpose of this study is to examine the solidarity in Hyangyak of the 16th century through the “Hyangripyakjo”. The results of the article show the characteristics of the solidarity in the 16th century Hyangyak as follows. First, the characteristics of social integration based on the good customs of the community. Second, morality that emphasizes social responsibility of leaders in society. Third, the normative nature of the punishment-oriented. Fourth, the autonomy of community. Fifth, publicness based on the idea of public. Sixth, procedural democracy appeared in the making of the Hyangyak. Finally it is the practical nature through education. This study suggests that the community welfare is to strengthen the social accountability of the social leaders, the intellectual class and the social welfare workers, to strengthen community welfare by securing the autonomy of community), to expand the content and scope of welfare education to ensure practice, and to strengthen community welfare based on publicness. Although in this study, there is a limit to understanding the nature of the solidarity of the 16th century Hyangyak through the one called “Hyangripyakjo”, it is meaningful to examine the solidarity of Hyangyak through“Hyangripyakjo”, In the following study, I suggest a study on the characteristics of solidarity included in the Hyangyak of the entire period of the Joseon.

이 연구의 목적은 향립약조를 통해 16세기 향약의 연대성을 살펴보는 데 있다. 연구결과에서 나타난 16세기 향약의 연대성의 특성은 첫째, 지역 사회의 좋은 풍속(향풍)을 바탕으로 한 사회통합의 특성, 둘째, 사회 지도자(유학자)의 사회적 책임을 강조하는 도덕적 특성, 셋째, 벌조 조항 중심(권선보다 징 악 강조)의 규범적 특성, 넷째, 향촌사회의 자치성, 다섯째, 공(公) 의식, 여섯째, 향약 작성 과정에서 드러난 절차적 민주성, 일곱째, 교육(교화)을 통한 실천성이다. 이 연구가 지역사회복지에 시사하는 점은 사회지도층과 지식인 계층 및 사회복지 종사자의 사회적 책무성 강화, 실질적인 지방자치성의 확보로 지역사회복지의 강화, 실천을 담보한 복지교육의 내용과 범위의 확장, 공공성을 토대로 한 지역사회복지 강화이다. 이 연구가 16세기 향약의 연대성의 특성을 『향립약조』라는 하나의 향약으로 이해하는 것에 제한점이 있으나, 『향립약조』를 통해 조선 향약의 초기에 나타난 향약의 연대성을 살펴보았다는 데 의미 가 있다. 이후 연구에서, 조선시대 전(全) 과정을 통한 향약의 연대성을 살펴보기를 제안한다.
