This article is a study on the history of Youngnak Children's Home―Focused on relationships between Kamakura Children's Home Seoul branch and Youngnak Children's Home―. This article describes the practices of Soda Gaichi who worked at Kamakura Children's Home Seoul Branch; former institute of Youngnak Children's Home in Hoam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Additionally, this article analyzes Han Gyung-jik’s social work practices and his major other works during the period of transition from Sinuiju Children's Home established in 1939 to Youngnak Children's Home located at Yongsan-gu Huam-dong in 1947. In this article, the following contents are covered. Firstly, the main event logs of Kamakura Children's Home Seoul Branch and Youngnak Children's Home are analyzed based on referring the chronology of Kamakura Children's Home and Youngnak Children's Home. Also, the major practices of Soda Gaichi and Han Gyung-jik are analyzed, who was the director of Kamakura Children's Home Seoul Branch and was the first director of Youngnak Children's Home, respectively. Secondly, the reason and background are explained about why Satake Otojiro, the founder of Kamakura Children's Home, established the Children’s Home in Seoul during the Japanese occupation. Thirdly, the practices related to social work of Han Gyung-jik are described in the article. Especially, why Han Gyung-jik, who was graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary and was a pastor at Sinuiju, started to run a Children’s Home, and how he established the Youngnak Children’s Home at Huam-dong in Youngsan-gu. Lastly, the philanthropy of both Soda Gaichi and Han Gyung-jik is described, and the implication in the aspect of Christian religion is reviewed in this article.

본 논문은 영락보린원의 역사연구 ― 가마쿠라보육원 경성지부와의 관계를 중심으로 ― 에 관해 작성된 것이다. 본 논문은 서울시 용산구 후암동 영락보린원의 前史인 가마쿠라보육원 경성지부와 소다가이치의 활동내용, 1939년 설립된 신의주 보린원이 1947년 용산구 후암동으로 이전 영락보린원으로 명칭변경 활동해온 한경직의 사회사업과 관련된 주요내용을 분석함을 목적으로 작성되었다. 본 논문에서는 다음과 같은 내용이 다루어졌다. 첫째로, 가마쿠라 보육원과 영락보린원의 연표를 참고하여 가마쿠라보육원 경성지부와 영락보린원의 주 요 사건일지를 분석한다. 또한 가마쿠라보육원 경성지부의 지부장이었던 소다가이치와 영락보린원의 초 대원장이었던 한경직에 관한 주요활동 내용을 기록 분석한다. 둘째는 가마쿠라보육원의 설립자인 사다케오토지로(佐竹音次郎)는 왜 일제강점기에 경성(京城)에 고아원 을 설립하였는지 설립 배경을 살펴본다. 셋째는 프린스턴대학원 신학교를 졸업 신의주에서 목사활동을 하던 한경직은 왜 고아사업을 시작하였는 지, 그리고 어떻게 용산구 후암동에 영락보린원을 설립하게 되었는지, 사회사업과 관련된 활동내용을 살 펴본다. 넷째는 한국의 영락보린원이 설립되어 있는 용산구 후암동의 전사(前史)가 되는 가마쿠라보육원 경성지 부, 소다가이치와 영락보육원 한경직의 인류애, 크리스천으로서의 시사점은 무엇인지를 살펴보았다.
