This study is aimed at finding the direction and methodology of criticism education in response to the changing times. Current critique classes at universities in Korea are mostly theory-driven, and the activity of reading or writing a criticism text is the main thing. These curricula are suitable for fostering literary researchers or professional critics, making it difficult to satisfy the needs of various learners. To this purpose, this study presents the objectives of criticism education in three ways: ‘critical ability’, ‘creative ability’ and ‘cultural ability’ enhancement based on the current status of criticism education and the learner-centered improvement strategy, and looks for a corresponding methodology. ‘Critical ability’ is closely related to the basic nature of criticism, but has not been sufficiently nurtured in the past criticism education, and ‘creative ability’ is something that deserves to be pursued as a new possibility of criticism education. ‘cultural ability’ relates to ways to expand the subject of criticism and take advantage of its various features. By setting these new goals of criticism education, criticism can be used as a living place of thought for changing realities and learners’ lives. Criticism education should be transformed into a dynamic field of humanities education that can respond to changes in the future society by using various humanities texts that contain human wisdom. This is because the integrated nature of criticism, closely linked to humanities reasons, is effective in fostering judgment and insight that can actively cope with changing lives.

이 연구는 시대 변화에 대응하는 비평교육의 방향 전환이 필요하다고 보 고 그 방향성과 방법론을 모색하기 위한 것이다. 우리나라 대학에서 이루어 지는 현행 비평 수업은 대부분 이론 중심이고 비평텍스트를 읽거나 쓰는 활 동이 주를 이룬다. 이런 커리큘럼은 문학연구자나 전문적인 비평가를 양성 하는 데 적합한 양상이어서, 다양한 학습자의 요구를 충족시키기 어렵다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 비평교육의 현황과 학습자 중심의 개선 전략을 바탕으로 비평교육의 목적을 ‘비판적 능력’, ‘창의적 능력’, ‘문화적 능력’ 의 제고라는 세 가지로 제시하고 그에 부합하는 방법론을 모색해보았다. ‘비판적 능력’은 비평의 기본 속성과 밀접하게 관련되어 있지만 지금까지 비평교육에서 충분히 양성되지 못한 것이며, ‘창의적 능력’은 비평교육의 새로운 가능성으로 추구할 만한 것이다. ‘문화적 능력’은 비평의 대상을 확 장하고 그 다층적 면모를 활용할 수 있는 방안과 관련된다. 이와 같은 비평교육의 새로운 목표 설정을 통해, 변화하는 현실과 학습자 들의 삶에 직결되는 생동하는 사유의 장으로서 비평이 활용될 수 있도록 할 수 있다. 비평교육은 인류의 지혜가 함축되어 있는 다양한 인문학적 텍스트 들을 활용하여 미래사회의 변화에 대응할 수 있는 인문교육의 역동하는 장 으로 변화해 가야 할 것이다. 인문학적 사유와 긴밀하게 연결되어 있는 비 평의 통합적 성격은 변화하는 삶에 능동적으로 대처할 수 있는 판단력과 통 찰력을 기르는 데 유효하기 때문이다.
