The purpose of this study is to interpret accurately Madam, buy Danjeo Dansul, a "Saseolsijo based on questions and answers between a peddler and a woman". There has been an insufficient understanding of this work because scholars did not know the meanings of some words such as "Danjeo Dansul, Jeueuli, and Gaopne" or knew them inaccurately. The study thus made primary efforts to understand the accurate meanings of these words and found that "Danjeo Dansul" were chopsticks and spoons made in the inlay technique or commonly inlaid work and that "Jeueul" and "Gaopne" were conjugated forms of "sew". The study then made an attempt to interpret the work based on new findings and found that the work introduced a dual device, which made the first sexual association with a peddler of inlaid products, who would peddle things made in the inlay technique, and the second one by highlighting that he was also an inlay technician to fill a hole in things. This dual device was used to reveal his identity fully. He would then develop a sexual discourse of filling a hole in a woman, thus developing a poetic concept. Thanks to these characteristics, this work seems to have enjoyed the biggest number of readers of the works in its category.

이 글은 ‘장사치-여인 문답형 사설시조’ 중 하나인 <댁들에 단저 단술 사오>를 정확히 해석해 보고자 한 것이다. 그 동안 이 작품은 불충분하게 이해되어 왔다. 그 이유는 ‘단저 단술, 즈을이, 가 옵네’ 등 몇몇 어휘들의 뜻을 몰랐거나 부정확하게 알고 있었기 때문이다. 이에 이 글에서는 이 어휘들의 정확한 의미를 푸는 데 일차적 노력을 기울였다. 그 결과 ‘단 저 단술’은 우리가 흔히 상감 기법이라고 하는 봉박이 기법을 사용하여 만든 젓가 락과 숟가락을 가리키는 것으로, ‘즈을이’와 ‘가옵네’는 ‘깁다’의 활용형으로 파악되 었다. 다음으로 이를 바탕으로 작품 해석을 시도하였다. 그 결과 봉박이 기법을 사용한 물건들을 팔러 다니는 봉박이장수라는 것을 통해 성적 연상을 불러일으킨 다음 구 멍 난 물건들을 메워주는 봉박이 기술자이기도 하다는 점을 강조하여 또 다시 성적 연상을 불러일으키는 이중적 장치를 통해 충분히 자신의 정체를 드러낸 후 여인의 구멍을 막아준다는 성적 담론을 늘어놓음으로써 자연스럽게 시상을 전개하고 있음 을 볼 수 있었다. 이런 특성으로 인해 이 작품은 이 유형에 속하는 작품들 중 가장 많은 향유층을 확보할 수 있었다.
