The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect object relations art therapy program on interpersonal relationships of a middle school student with mild intellectual disability. The subject for this study was a third year of middle school girl in B middle school who was diagnosed as intellectual disability grade three by the medical specialist for children and youth in A city, and was requested from her homeroom teacher because of having difficulties in interpersonal relationships in the classroom. The 45 minutes object relations art therapy was conducted for 29 sessions, three times a week. Relationship Change Scale (RCS) and Kinetic School Drawing (KSD) were used as research tools, and pre- and post- changes of psychological and behavioral characteristics of the subjects were qualitatively analyzed step by step based on object relations theory after the art therapy program. The study came to conclusion as follows. First, RCS score were increased, and after comparing pre- and post test of KSD, the subject drew a stable posture of holding hands with friends showing interpersonal relationships. In other words, object relations art therapy has been effective in promoting interpersonal relationships of a middle school student with mild intellectual disability. Second, therapy process, completion of work, and performance tasks were held in a step-by-step qualitative analysis, the subject showed positive aspects, and positive changes were found in school life to actively promote interpersonal relationships and improve relationships and control feelings in the family life. Therefore, this study provided a basis for the effectiveness of relationships for middle school students diagnosed with intellectual disability.

본 연구는 대상관계 미술치료가 경도지적장애 중학생의 대인관계에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 사례연구이다. 연구대상은 A시의 B중학교 3학년 여학생으로 지적장애 3급을 진단받았으며, 학교생활에서 대인관계의 문제로 인해 담임교사에 의해 의뢰되 었다. 대상관계 미술치료는 주 3회 45분씩 총 29회기를 실시하였다. 연구도구 및 결과 분석을 위하여 대인관계변화척도(RCS)와 동적학교생활화(KSD)를 사용하였으며, 미술 치료 상담 후에 대상자의 사전․사후 심리 및 행동특성을 대상관계이론에 근거하여 단계별로 질적 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미술치료 실시 후 연구대상자의 대인관계 점수가 증가하였으며. 동적학교생활화의 사전․사후를 비교해 본 결과 대인관계에서 친구들과 손을 잡는 안정된 모습을 보였다. 즉, 대상관계 미술 치료가 경도지적장애 중학생의 대인관계 증진에 효과적이었다. 둘째, 단계별 질적 분 석에서 상담과정, 작품완성, 수행과제에서 회기를 진행할수록 긍정적인 모습을 보였고 학교생활에서 대인관계 적극성과 관계개선, 가정생활에서 감정조절을 하는 긍정적 변 화가 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구는 경도지적장애 중학생을 대상으로 대상관계미술치료 가 대인관계에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 효과성에 대한 근거를 제시하였다.
