The main stream in our current academic world is the convergency discussion between educational systems and the convergency discussion is in compliance with the globalization-locality discussion. The ideal of the locality discussion is to evaluate the local to a positive and subjective creation space and solve the problems and contradiction in the local caused by globalization. Of course, even in the field of philosophy in order to solve the problems caused by the modernization of the western world it is said that the establishment of self-concentration should be avoided and fragmented discussions and small discussions should be focused to change and develop but this kind of ideal is doubted whether it can come true. Based on this problem consciousness, this paper reexamined the establishment of Jeju studies and the roles of philosophy during its course. Therefore, the Jeju locality has been clarified as dualism of 'adaptation and opposition' but on the other hand, Jeju was judged to provide a chance to reestablish its locality as an experimental station of the locality discussion to premise centrality of dual meanings and mutuality of centrality and post-centrality. In particular, considered the relations of China and Jeju which had been the center of philosophical idea of East Asia before recent times, it concluded that it is required to clearly clarify the Jeju locality as the hub of Northeast Asia through the convergency project of the East Asia majors and review the exchange course of China and Jeju by course of study as the basis of an argument which could support it and arrange and suggest the reasons melt there.

오늘날 우리 학계에서는 학제간 융복합 담론이 주류를 이루고 있는 데, 융복합 담론은 세계화-로컬리티 담론과 이론적 맥락을 같이 하고 있다. 로컬을 능동적이고 주체적인 생성 공간으로 격상시켜, 전지구화 가 야기한 문제점과 모순들을 로컬에서 해결해나갈 수 있다는 것이 로 컬리티 담론의 이상이다. 물론 철학분야에서도 서구의 근대가 초래한 문제점을 해결하려면, 자신을 중심부로 설정하지 않고 파편화된 담론, 작은 담론으로서 중심을 변화 전개시켜야 한다고 말하지만, 이런 이상 이 제대로 실현될 수 있을지는 여전히 의문이다. 이런 문제의식을 바탕으로 이 논문에서는 지금까지 제주학이 어떻게 성립되었는지, 그리고 그 과정에서 철학이 어떤 역할을 했는지를 검토 해 보았다. 그래서 지금까지 제주의 로컬리티가 ‘순응과 반발’이라는 이 중성으로 규정되었다면, 오늘날 제주는 이중적 의미의 중심성, 그리고 중심성과 탈중심성의 상호성을 전제하는 로컬리티 담론의 시험장으로서 자신의 로컬리티를 재정립할 수 있는 기회를 마련한 것으로 판단했다. 특히 근대 이전 동아시아 철학 사상의 중심이었던 중국과 제주의 관계 를 고려할 때, 동아시아 전공자들의 융복합 프로젝트를 통해 동북아의 허브로서 제주의 로컬리티를 명석판명하게 규정하고, 이를 뒷받침할 수 있는 논거로서 각 분과별 중국과 제주의 교류 과정을 검토한 후, 거기에 녹아 있는 사유를 정리하여 제시할 필요가 있다는 결론에 이르렀다.
