The Relationship between Adolescent Girl's Co-rumination with Best Friend and Mother and Depression and moderating effect of soothing ability
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between adolescent girls' co-rumination with best friend and mothers and girls' depression and to investigate moderating effect of soothing ability the relationship between adolescent girls’ co-rumination with best friend and girls’ depression. The subjects of the study were 269 adolescent girls who were selected from first grade of high school in Busan and Chang-won. For data analysis, frequency, paired t-test, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression, t-test were used. The results were as follows: First, adolescent girls most frequently co-ruminate with mother about their problems. Second, adolescent girls’ co-rumination with best friend had positive correlations with depression. On the other hand, adolescent girls’ co-rumination with mothers had negative correlations with adolescent girls’ depression. Third, moderating effect of soothing ability between adolescent girls’ co-rumination with best friend and girls' depression was significant. The results suggest the importance of increasing adolescence girls’ soothing ability in prevention of depression which is caused by co-rumination with best friend.
