This paper is an attempt to refine the results of previous research by examining Lee Seong – bok’s recently published essays on poetry. While this paper follows the conclusions of previous studies that focused on the identification of the identification of the inherent politics through simultaneous pursuit of autonomy and sociality of literature, I would like to review Lee Seong – bok’s poetry again, under a general historical perspective. First, I will reexamine major concepts such as “the autonomy of literature” and “social” and based on this, I will consider the reasons for the political nature of Lee Sung-bok, which is more common today, focusing on his recently-published essays on poetry. This paper focuses on Spinoza’s discussions on politics and love, and continuing political and philosophical traditions. Considering this with Lee Sung-bok’s introduction, we can find a point where prior studies have not paid enough attention. The particular emphasis in this paper is the unique conservatism of Lee Sung-bok’s poetics, through which we identify traces of rare ideas that have been overlooked and skipped over in progressive discourse. This paper tries to prove the political nature of the literature carried out by poet Lee Sung-bok as more intense and reliable, noting "self-love" before altruistic love and also "transcendental symbol" before intransigence.

본고는 근래에 상재된 이성복 시인의 시론들을 중심으로 기존 연구의 성과를 보충, 구체화하고자 하는 작업이다. 기존의 이성복 연구가 문학의 자율성과 사회성의 동시적 추구를 통한 이성복 고유의 정치성 규명에 집중하였다면, 본고는 기존 연구들의 방향을 따르되, 보편사적 관점 아래 ‘문학의 자율성’ 및 ‘사회’와 같은 주요 개념들을 재검토하고, 이를 바탕으로 최근에 (재)공간된 시론서들을 중심으로 오늘날 보다 보편적일 이성복 문학의 정치성에 대해 사유해보고자 한다. 본고에서 특별하게 강조하는 부분은 이성복 시론의 독특한 보수성으로, 진보적 담론 속에서 다소간 놓치고 외면했던 희귀한 사유의 흔적을 확인한다. 본고는 이성복 시론 속에서, 이타적 사랑 이전의 ‘자기애’ 및 비타협적 부정 이전의 ‘초월적 상징’에 주목함으로써, 이성복 시인이 수행한 문학의 정치성을 더욱 두텁고 신뢰할 수 있는 것으로 논증하고자 한다.
