For biblical preaching that pursuits the life-change of the congregation, the preacher should rightly understand the meaning of the text and apply it legitimately to the contemporary audience. Thus, text-faithful application is a recurring task and responsibility for the preacher. Despite the consensus for the text-faithful application, there are different approaches in the current hermeneutical/homiletical theories for sermon application. In this regard, this paper suggests that the preacher need a ‘biblically appropriated application’ for more text-faithful preaching in consideration of the author’s designed textuality. Accordingly, this study first provides the foundational concept of biblical appropriation, examining the explanations of two famous philosophical hermeneuticians, Hans-Georg Gadamer and Paul Ricoeur. And from the perspective of proper understanding of biblically appropriated application, this study evaluates the paradigms both of traditional expository preaching and the New Homiletic. Futhermore, this paper probes for an integrated model with the concept of ‘biblically appropriated application,’ and provides its homiletical implications.

회중의 삶을 변화시키는 성경적 설교는 성경 본문의 의미를 바르게 설명하고, 오늘을 살아가는 회중에게 그 의미가 제대로 적용되도록 해야 한다. 여기에 본문에 충실한 적용은 성경적 설교자에게 매주 되돌아오는 필수적인 과제이자 책임이다. 하지만 본문에 충실한 적용을 동일하게 지향함에도, 실제 해석학적/설교학적 상이한 모델들이 제시되고 있다. 이런 맥락에서 이 논문은 설교자가 저자가 구현한 본문성을 충실히 고려하여 설교의 적용을 수행하기 위해 성경적 전유를 통한 적용의 필요성을 제안하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 우선 성경적 전유의 개념을 철학적 해석학자들인 Hans-Georg Gadamer와 Paul Ricoeur의 해석 이론들을 통해서 살펴보고 그 공통점을 확인해본다. 이런 해석학적 이해를 바탕으로, 성경적 전유를 통한 적용의 관점에서 전통적 강해설교와 신설교학의 장단점을 평가해 보고, 성경적 전유를 통한 적용으로의 통합적인 발전을 모색해본다. 끝으로 이 논문은 성경적 전유를 통한 적용이 가져다주는 설교학적 함의들을 제안한다.
