Journal of the International Network for Korean Language and Culture 16-2, 305-335. This study suggests a teaching approach to Korean culture teachers by conducting interviews with teachers who teach Korean culture to learners with various purposes and examining the attitudes that should be acquired by these teachers. Accordingly, in Chapter 2, the attitude of the teachers of Korean culture are investigated. In addition, this chapter introduces the elements that should be sensitively considered while teaching students about culture. Further, Chapter 3 discusses the professionalism of Korean culture teachers and investigates the teaching ability that should be possessed by these teachers to educate their students about intercultural communication. Further, this study suggests the elements that should be included in teaching programs to enable teachers to acquire such expertise. Subsequently, Chapter 4 considers various aspects of the teaching approaches in educating learners with different purposes, for example, learners with academic purposes, female immigrants through marriage, immigrant children, and immigrant workers. In addition, based on interview data, it discusses the characteristics of each type of learners; the current situation of culture education; difficulties encountered while imparting cultural education; and the attitude, and professionalism that should be maintained by Korean culture teachers. To ensure effective Korean culture teaching, teachers should contemplate on the contents and scope of teaching material, characteristics of learners, teaching perspectives, and the teaching method. This study intends to provide a starting point for future studies on the topic since only a few studies have been conducted on the teaching approaches followed by Korean culture teachers to date. However, future research should carefully inspect the existing programs for training Korean culture teachers, which are not examined in this study, and clarify the aspects of cultural education for learners with various purposes.

이 연구에서는 한국 문화를 교육하는 교사가 어떤 태도를 가져야 하고, 어떤 전문성을 갖춰야 할지에 대해 알아본 뒤, 실제 다양한 목적을지닌 학습자에게 한국 문화를 교육하는 교사들과 면담을 실시하여 현장의 목소리와 함께 한국 문화 교사가 나아가야 할 방향을 제시하고자하였다. 우선 2장에서는 한국 문화 교사의 태도에 대해 알아보았다. 이와 더불어 문화 교수 시 민감하게 다루어야 할 요소들에 대해 소개하였다. 3장에서는 한국 문화 교사의 전문성에 대해 말하고자 하였는데, 한국 문화 교사가 갖추어야 할 수업 전문성과 능력을 문화 간 의사소통을 중심으로 다루고자 하였다. 또한 이러한 전문성을 갖추기 위한교사 프로그램은 어떠한 요소들이 습득되어야 하는지를 제시하고 있다. 이어서 4장에서는 학문목적 학습자, 여성결혼이민자, 중도입국자녀, 이주노동자에게 한국 문화를 직접 교수하고 있는 교사들이 각 학습자의특징, 문화 교육의 현황, 문화 교육 시 어려운 점, 한국 문화 교사가 지녀야 할 태도, 전문성에 대해 어떤 생각을 가지고 있는지 면담을 통해 알아보았다. 한국 문화를 교육하는 교사는 한국 문화의 내용, 범위, 학습자의 특성, 관점, 교수법에 대해 끊임없이 고민해야 할 것이다. 이 연구에서는 아직까지 한국 문화 교사론에 대한 연구가 많이 이루어지지 않은 것을감안하여 앞으로의 연구에 단초를 제공하고자 하였다. 그러나 여기에서는 자세하게 언급되지 않은 한국 문화 교사 프로그램, 더욱 다양한목적의 학습자를 위한 문화 교육에 대한 연구에 대해서는 추후 구체적으로 살펴봐야 할 것이다.
