Music is completed when its external structure is in harmony with its internal anecdotes. With the full understanding of both aspects, music education can be well-balanced. In this vein, the purpose of the study is to improve the quality of performing and develop a performer’s proper attitude by using anecdotes contained in gayageum music for gayageum teaching. The study used the anecdotes of the Kang Tae-Hong’s gayageum sanjo and mainly explored two distinctive instructional elements from the stories, ones related to ‘melodies(music)’ and ‘views on music(attitude)’ so that gayageum teaching can be done corresponding to each content. The teaching plan was designed to guide students to first understand the content of anecdotes before any instrumental lesson and later learn melodies of gayageum music. Instructional plan for ‘music’ includes understanding the anecdotes relevant to a melody, learning the melody, and playing the music in person so that students can learn these three steps in a coherent way. Instruction plan for ‘views on music’ includes understanding the anecdotes of musical views, playing gayageum music while understanding the master’s attitude toward music. This way, students will be able to apply what they have learned from the anecdotes to their performance in a specific manner. While studies on the gayageum sanjo have been conducted continuously, it is relatively rare to find internal research on anecdotes and meanings embedded in the gayageum sanjo. It is expected that studies, which can recognize the originality and diversity of the gayageum sanjo and explore it from a more extensive perspective, will be actively carried out.

음악은 외형적인 구조와 내면적인 이야기가 조화를 이루어 완성된 것이며 이에 대한 이해가 뒷받침 될 때 균형 잡힌 음악 교육이 이루어질 수 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 점에 착안하여 가야금 실기 지도를 위해 악곡에 담긴 일화를 활용한 연주의 질 향상과 연주자의 올바른 태도 형성에 목적을 두고 연구되었다. 이를 위해 강태홍류 가야금 산조 일화를 활용하였으며 그 안에서 가락에 관한 부분과 음악관에 관한 부분으로 구별하여 각각의 내용에 따라 알맞은 실기 지도가 이루어질 수 있도록 지도 요소를 탐색해보았다. 실기지도가 이루어지기 전 일화의 내용 이해가 선행되고 이후 가락을 연주하도록 지도 방안을 구성하였는데, 가락에 관한 내용은 일화 이해하기, 가락 익히기, 직접 연주하기의 요소로 나누어 서로 연관성을 가지고 학습할 수 있도록 하였으며 음악관에 관한 내용은 일화 이해하기, 연주자의 태도 이해하고 연주하기의 요소로 나누어 일화를 통해 알게 된 내용을 자신의 연주에 구체적으로 적용할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다. 가야금 산조와 관련된 연구가 지속적으로 이루어지고 있지만 그에 담긴 일화나 의미에 관한 내면 연구는 상대적으로 찾아보기 힘든 실정이다. 가야금 산조가 가진 독창성과 다양성을 인정하고 보다 폭넓은 시각으로 바라볼 수 있는 연구가 활발히 이루어지기를 기대한다.
