In Korea, due to its geographic features, there are a great deal of Nong-yo(farmers’ songs) or Eo-yo(fishermen’s songs) that have been passed down with their varying characteristics. In those songs lie the ideologies, customs, and sentiments of the Korean people, and they will become a driving force which sympathizes the nation’s sentiments and thoughts, thus recreating them with national identity. Although these are a valuable cultural product, farmers’ songs are diminishing as the agrarian culture is disappearing. This desperate time calls for desperate measures: developing a proper learning and teaching method for passing down regional farmers’ songs to the future generation. Thus, the purpose of the study is to investigate the origin and the performing process of Gongsan Nongyo, designated as intangible cultural asset no. 7 of Daegu metropolitan city, and to seek an effective teaching and learning method based on the examination. For the proper teaching of Gongsan Nongyo, the teaching and learning method proposed in this paper involved understanding various relationships among tempos, notes, and the length of narration of farmers’ songs corresponding to the speed or forms of farming work along with the songs’ contextual roles. It also suggested an integrative and comprehensive approach through experiencing musical features and music grammar of regional distinctions. That will be the measure which could strengthen musical creativity and convergent thinking competency, musical communicative competency, and cultural community competency that the 2015 Revised National Music Curriculum pursues. It is expected that regional farmers’ songs will continue to be valued and researched as an important cultural product, linking the past and the present as well as a source of sustainability of the present rather than a culture of another world distant from the current life.

우리나라는 지형적 특성상 전승되어 오는 농요(農謠)나 어요(漁謠)가 매우 많고 그 특징 또한 다양하다. 그 속에는 민족의 사상, 관습, 정서 등이 고스란히 담겨있으며 이를 통해 민족적 정서와 사고에 공감하고 더 나아가 주체성을 가지고 재창조하는 원동력이 될 것이다. 이토록 소중한 문화적 산물임에도 불구하고 농경문화가 사라지면서 농요도 함께 사라지는 절체절명의 현 시점에서 지역 전승 농요에 대한 올바른 지도 방안이 절실히 요구된다. 따라서 본고의 연구 목적은 대구광역시 무형문화재 제 7호로 지정된 공산농요가 발생하게 된 배경과 연행 과정 등을 살피고 이를 바탕으로 효과적인 교수ㆍ학습 방안을 모색하는 데에 있다. 공산농요의 올바른 지도를 위해서 농요의 역할과 함께 작업 형태나 속도에 따른 농요의 사설 길이 및 음보, 한배와의 관계를 이해하도록 구상하였고 지역 특유의 음악적 특성과 음악 어법을 체감하는 등 통합적이고 총체적인 교수ㆍ학습 방안을 제시하였다. 이것은 2015 개정 음악과 교육과정에서 추구하는 음악적 창의ㆍ융합 사고 역량, 음악적 소통 역량, 문화적 공동체 역량 등을 기를 수 있는 방안이 될 것이다. 지역 전승 농요가 더 이상 현재의 삶과 동떨어진 다른 세계의 문화가 아니라 현재를 존속시켜 주는 원천인 동시에 과거와 현재를 연결 짓는 중요한 문화적 산물로서 소중히 여기고 지속적으로 연구되어지기를 기대한다.
