This article is about the alternative structure of the future church in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Howard Snyder saw that church needed four structures in nature: congregation, small groups, the charisma-based leadership, and a network of connections beyond local congregation. In addition, the author believes that there is a need for lay minister who serves small groups. This is because the author believes that the leadership of the congregation and the small group and the pastoral leadership can be linked only when there is lay minister. This article tried to find its historical cases in church history, believing that if one can find the case of lay minister in church history, the future church can also have it. In the process, the author examined that the elder of the New Testament Church, the elder of the consistory of the Geneva Church, the class leader of the Methodist Church, the leader of the Home Cell Groups of the Yoido Full Gospel Church, and the shepherd of the Cell Church (House Church) were examples of lay minister. Based on the five cases of lay minister, this paper determines that it is possible for the future church to have lay minister as an essential church structure, and tries to propose the office of lay minister to a future church. This is because the author believes that lay minister can connect congregations, small groups, and pastors in an organic manner, and that they can build a communal church structure through this way. We have been going through an era of discontinuous change. We cannot predict the future at all. When discontinuous changes occur, the pastor feels that the skills and abilities he has trained are of little use in the new environment. In this situation, the future church minister should turn the church into a fellowship community, and I think the most necessary thing is the office of lay minister. I think the alternative structure of the future church is the structure in which the minister and the lay minister cooperate.

이 글은 4차 산업혁명의 시대 미래 교회의 대안적 구조에 대한 것이다. 선교학자 하워드 스나이더는 교회는 본질적으로 회중, 소그룹, 은사 중심리더십, 연계적 네트워크라는 네 가지 구조를 필요로 한다고 말했다. 이에더하여 필자는 소그룹을 섬기는 평신도 사역자 즉 성도 사역자가 필요하다고 보았다. 성도 사역자가 있어야 회중과 소그룹과 목사의 리더십이 연결될 수 있다고 보았기 때문이다. 이 글은 교회 역사에서 성도 사역자의 사례를 찾을 수 있으면 미래 교회도 성도 사역자라는 직분을 둘 수 있다고 보고, 교회 역사에서 역사적 사례를 찾는 작업을 시도했다. 그 과정에서 우리는 신약성경 시대 교회의 장로, 제네바 교회의 장로, 감리교회의 속장, 여의도순복음교회의 구역장, 셀교회(가정교회)의 목자가 성도 사역자의 사례에 해당한다고 보았다. 이런 연구 결과에 근거하여, 이 글은 미래 교회도 성도 사역자를 두는 것이가능하다고 판단하고, 미래 교회에 성도 사역자라는 직분을 제안하려고 한다. 성도 사역자가 회중, 소그룹, 목사 리더십을 유기적으로 연결할 수 있고, 이를 통해 공동체형 교회 구조가 이루어질 수 있다고 보았기 때문이다. 우리는 이미 예측이 불가능한 불연속적 변화의 시대로 들어가고 있다. 불연속적 변화가 일어날 때, 목사는 자신이 훈련받은 기술과 능력이 새로운 환경에서 별로 쓸모없다는 것을 느끼게 된다. 이런 상황에서 미래 교회는 교제 공동체로 존속하기 위해 성도 사역자라는 직분을 구비할 필요가있다고 본다. 미래 교회의 대안적 구조는 목사 사역자와 성도 사역자가 서로 동역하는 구조라는 것이 필자의 생각이다.
