This paper develops the discussion by comparing Western modern moral education theory with Yijing. 1) According to the I. Kant tradition, human beings are predicated on an independent entity, and in moral education, he emphasizes moral autonomy that transcends convention. Yijing stresses that human beings are relational selves, and argues that their identities are constructed in a social network. 2) In the theory of moral education in the West, the principle of happiness will have to be ostracized, thus emphasizing the priority on the right over the good. While maintaining human inner morality, Yijing emphasizes well-being life through the concept of good or ill luck(吉凶). 3) L. Kohlberg asserts that the moral function is the rational activity of the moral actor, and emphasizes a moral reasoning and judgment in moral education. Contrary to this view of the importance of formality of moral judgment, Yijing differs in emphasizing the art of living in conformity with the social semantics. Through these discussions, I propose the possibility of a traditional and alternative moral educational foundation based on Yijing.

본고는 『주역』의 도덕교육론을 콜버그를 위시한 인지발달전통과 비교한다. 1) 칸트적 전통은 인간이 독립적 실체라 전제하고, 도덕교육에 있어선 인습을 뛰어넘는 도덕적 자율성을 강조한다. 『주역』은 인간이 관계론적 자아임을 주장하면서 자아정체성이 사회적 관계망 속에서 구성됨을 강조한다. 2) 서구 근대 도덕교육론에서는 행복의 원리가 배척되어야 하며, ‘좋음에 대한 옳음에 관한 우선성’이 확립된다. 그러나 『주역』은 선악을 포괄하면서도 길흉화복의 개념을 통해 인간의 웰빙을 강조한다. 3) 콜버그는 도덕적 기능이 도덕적 행위자의 이성적 활동임을 주장하며, 도덕교육에 있어 도덕추론과 판단을 강조한다. 도덕판단의 형식성을 중요하는 이러한 관점과는 달리, 『주역』은 사회적 의미체계를 수행하는 처세술을 강조하는 점에서 그 차이가 있다. 이러한 논의를 통해 본 논문은 콜버그의 인지발달전통이 갖고 있는 한계를 주역적 사유를 통해 보완할 수 있음을 주장한다.
