This paper explores the local archetype of the Gangwon province area, and based on that, it was created as a part of a large project to academically systematize the formation process of the local identity of Kangwon province. The regional circle referred to here is the origin of the culture of the region, as a circular recognition that the life of the region and the universal value are combined, and the process is a regional research concept encompassing the future value. Based on these concepts, it is the purpose of this paper to navigate the human-geographical meaning of Cheonpyeongsa by examining various records of Cheonpyeongsa and Lee Ja-hyeon. Cheongpyeongsa, which was first built in the early days of Korea, has been reborn as a temple representing Chuncheon after Lee Ja-hyeon's retreat. Since then, several people have come back to visit, and the surrounding landscape is not only a beautiful space, but also recognized as a humanistic space. Depending on where the focus is placed, Ijahyeon is different, and it is not a bureaucracy, but in the case of a daidaihu who has experience traveling to Cheonpyeongsa on an individual basis, Lee Ja-hyeon is actively remembered as a "treatment", and so far , Can continue as it is. In short, based on the concept of local prototypes, it was concluded that Cheongpyeongsa and Lee Ja-hyeon were enough for the prototype of Buddhism in Chuncheon in Kangwon-do. I think that such an attempt may be meaningful in that it can present a new perspective to the study of local culture and literature in the future.

본고는 강원도 지역의 지역원형(Local archetype)을 탐색하고 그것을 바탕으로 강원도의 지역정체성(Local identity)의 형성과정을 학문적으로 체계화하는 대기획의 일환으로 작성되었다. 여기서 말하는 지역원형은 지역의 삶과 보편적 가치가 결합된 원형적 인식으로서 지역문화의 기원, 과정, 미래적 가치를 포괄하는 지역연구 개념이다. 이러한 개념을 토대로 청평사와 이자현에 대한 다양한 기록들을 검토하고 청평사가 갖는 인문지리적 의미를 탐색하는 것이 본고의 목적이다. 고려 초기에 처음 창건되었던 청평사는 이자현이 은거한 이후 춘천을 대표하는 사찰로 거듭났다. 이후 여러 인물들이 은거하고 방문하면서, 주변 경관이 아름다운 공간일 뿐만 아니라 인문적 공간으로도 인식되었다. 초점을 어디에 두느냐에 따라 이자현을 기억하는 방식은 달랐지만, 관료가 아닌 개인의 입장에서 청평사를 유람한 경험이 있는 사대부들의 경우 이자현은 ‘처사’로서 긍정적으로 기억되었고 지금까지도 그대로 이어지고 있다고 할 수 있다. 요컨대 지역원형이라는 개념을 토대로 청평사와 이자현을 검토한 결과 강원도 춘천 지역 불교의 원형으로써 충분한 위상과 가치가 있다는 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 이러한 시도는 향후 지역의 문화나 문학을 검토하는 데에도 새로운 시각을 제시할 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 생각된다.
