Folktale Aspect Review of Jeong Jiyong’s Poetry ｢Nostalgia｣This study aims at investigating and the interrelations of the ‘Horse Grave Folktale’ in Okcheon-gun in Jeong Jiyong’s well-known poetry ｢Nostalgia｣. This research comes from the 'Horse Grave Folktale' which is a story about racing with an arrow versus a horse in Jiyong’s ｢Nostalgia｣. In fact, the horse grave is located in Jiyong’s birthplace. Therefore, it is possible to deduce that the 'horse grave folktale' told by young villagers and influenced by ｢Nostalgia｣ as poetic imaginary. There is no proof that the horse grave is the motifs of Jiyong’s poem ｢Nostalgia｣, as the horse grave was located in an artificial lake, through the construction of the Daecheong Multipurpose Dam about 40 years ago. For this reason, this researcher hopes to restore the 'Horse Grave Folktale' fordeveloping local tours of Okcheon-gun for unlimited profits. Those who wish to study Jeong Jiyong, must research the Okcheon-gun district folklores to fully appreciate his literary world.

본 연구는 정지용의 대표시 ｢향수｣와 옥천의 전설 ‘말무덤’과의 연관성에 대하여 살펴보았다. ｢향수｣는 옥천지역 설화인 ‘쏜 화살과 경주’를 하였다는 ‘말무덤’ 전설에서 착상되었다. ‘말무덤’은 실제로 정지용 생가와 근거리에 위치한다. 어린 시절 그는 ‘말무덤’ 전설을 듣고 그 전설을 ｢향수｣라는 시로 형상화하였을 개연성이 분명해진다. 40여 년 전, 대청댐 건설로 ‘말무덤’은 수장(水葬)되었고 ｢향수｣와 관련한 ‘말무덤’ 증거물은 없어졌다. ｢향수｣에 나타난 ‘말무덤’을 복원하여 옥천군 관광자원을 구축해야 한다. 또 정지용을 연구하는 학자들은 정지용 작품과 옥천지역 전설 등의 관계에 대하여 깊이 논의해야 한다.
