This study is to suggest the necessities of finding ways to motivation and motivation program development in education environment by searching the effect of immigrant youth's self-determining motivation on Korean learning. The researcher conducted a depth interview on motivation of Korean learning and types of autonomic motivation with learners who study Korean less than 1 year based on advanced study which shows the longer immigrant youth's stay and learning period, the less their motivation on Korean learning. As a result of this study, immigrant youths responded that they learn Korean to stay in Korea such as entering school, getting a job, and so on. It appeared that self-determining motivation is closer to intrinsic motivation than extrinsic control in extrinsic motivation on homework, study, discussion with presentation, and grade as well. The relationship between Korean learning and self-determining motivation is showed that the closer self-determining motivation which puts value on what individual considers importantly to intrinsic motivation, the more influence on Korean learning motivation.

본 연구의 목적은 중도입국청소년들의 자기결정성 동기가 한국어학습에 미치 는 영향을 살펴봄으로써 교육현장에서 동기부여방안 모색과 동기부여프로그 램 개발의 필요성을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 중도입국청소년들이 체류 및 학습기간이 길어질수록 한국어학습 동기는 줄어든다는 선행연구를 토대로 1년 미만 한국어를 학습한 이들을 대상으로 선정했으며, 한국어학습 동기와 자율성동기 유형에 대하여 심층면접을 실시하였다. 연구결과 중도입국 청소년은 진학이나 취업 등 한국 정착을 목적으로 한국어를 배우는 것으로 응답하였다. 또한 자기결정적 동기는 숙제, 공부, 토론·발표, 성적에 대해 외 적조절보다 내재적 동기에 가까운 유형으로 나타났다. 한국어학습과 자기결정 성 동기의 관계는 개인이 중요하다고 여기는 것에 가치를 두는 자기결정성이 내재적 동기에 가까울수록 한국어학습동기에도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
