In this study, relevant laws and policies targeting children of multicultural families through support systems were analyzed broadly to discuss the current situation in and directions for multicultural education. The operating status of the programs of the Pyeongtaek University’s Didimdol School, a multicultural school currently operated with private support, was examined in detail. Given the multicultural backgrounds of children/teenagers from various familial and national backgrounds, directions for education and welfare in multicultural schools, including policies for the diversification of programs according to demand and development characteristics, were discussed by identifying the basic issues arising from those directions in the future.

본 연구는 다문화대안교육의 현실과 방향에 대하여 논의하고자 지원체계 로서 다문화가족 자녀를 대상으로 하는 관련법과 정책에 대하여 개괄적으 로 분석하였다. 또한 현재 민간지원에 의해 운영되고 있는 다문화 대안학 교인 평택대학교 디딤돌스쿨의 프로그램 운영현황을 살펴봄으로써 다문화 대안교육의 교육복지 방향에 대한 기초적인 사항을 제안하고자 하였다. 다 양한 출신국적과 가정배경을 가진 아동･청소년들의 가정적 문화적 배경을 고려한 발달특성 및 욕구별 프로그램의 다원화 정책 등 다문화 대안교육의 교육복지에 대한 방향을 논의하였다.
