As sustainability and the introduction of ICT are attracting attention in modern agriculture, it is necessary to reveal how Sustainable Agriculture and Smart Agriculture are related and to suggest a direction to small farmers who occupy most of the workforce of agriculture. In this study, there are two outputs of developing theoretical model and applying cases in Korea. For sustainability of agriculture, it is necessary to create innovation of value chain and environment and to continue fair distribution of created values among stakeholders. This study discovered that Smart Agriculture, especially Agricultural Big Data, creates value through automation and prediction, which enables multilateral cooperation and sharing values through technology and data. On the other hand, smart farmers in Korea lacked forecasting skills when creating values and not to mention when distributing and preserving them which consist of education, network, and governance. Therefore, vocational training for farmers related to data, networking with themselves, and cooperating with private sectors should be implemented. To specify, for technical factors, it is important to pay attention to the stages of data capture and aggregation which are the most important and difficult parts of big data as duplications and outliers exist. Thus, vocational training related to farm data pre-processing which improve quality of data by cleaning and detecting errors has advantages in capacity and time by involving farmers. For non-technical factors, in order to distribute and preserve the value well, it is necessary to accumulate more data through networks of regional farmers. In addition, cooperating with the private sectors like farm machinery or software companies by considering the incentives and capacities of enterprises, research institutes, and farmers can be the solution regarding data ownership and stages of analyzing and prescribing data.

오늘날 농업은 자원의 고갈, 환경의 파괴, 농업 인구의 감소 및 빈곤 증가 등을 해결하 기 위해 경제적, 사회적 및 경제적으로 지속가능성을 추구하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 ICT가 급속도로 발전하고 농업에 적용되면서 농업의 생산량이 증가하고 관리 및 유통이 매우 편리해졌다. 한편, 이러한 지속가능한 농업과 스마트 농업의 두 개념이 어떻게 연관되는 지 알아보고 그 스마트 농업과 농업 인력의 대부분을 차지하고 있는 소규모 농가의 방향 성에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 Mentzer and Kahn(1995)과 Handfield and Melnyk(1998)이 제안한 반복적 과학적 연구 프로세스를 사용하였고 본 연구는 첫 단계 인 통합적 이론 및 개념 모형 개발과 두 번째 단계인 사례 적용을 목적으로 한다. 우선 통합적 모델을 위해서 문헌 출판 시기와 출처를 고려하였고 총 29개의 문헌을, 사례 적 용을 위해 스마트팜 선도사례 25가지와 추가적으로 12가지 사례를 조사하여 첫 번째 단 계의 모형을 적용시켰다. 농업의 지속가능성을 위해선 가치사슬과 환경의 혁신과 이해관 계자들 간의 공정한 분배를 통해 협력과 공유의 지속이 필요하다. 이에 스마트 농업과 농업 빅데이터는 자동화와 예측을 통해 가치를 창출하며 기술과 데이터를 매개로 다자 협력과 가치공유가 가능하게 한다. 한편, 한국 스마트 농가의 경우 예측 기술이 부족하 며 교육, 네트워크 및 거버넌스 또한 한정적이었으므로 데이터 관련 농가 직업훈련, 네 트워크와 민관협력을 실시해야 한다.
