In the context of the ‘New Normal’ low growth rates and the serious youth unemployment problem, the government is showing a keen interest in fostering global start-ups as well as plans for revitalizing young entrepreneurs. However, according to the results of the survey by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, only 1.4% of the surveyed companies are involved in overseas market and 1.3% of surveyed companies have 20’s-year-old entrepreneurs. As a result, global start-ups of young entrepreneurs are not achieving the expected results. Previous research has focused on exploring variables that can trigger start-ups, pointing out that university students and/or young people have a high tendency toward employment with the low level of entrepreneurial intentions. However, a clearly definite solution has not been provided to the entrepreneurial behavior of global start-ups and the exploration of the key variables. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of perception of entrepreneurial opportunity on the entrepreneurial intention of university students along with analyzing the moderating effect of global mindset on the causal relationships between pre-founder's perception of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention. The results of this study are as follows. First, the recognition of entrepreneurial opportunity has a positive effect on entrepreneurial intention. Second, the global mindset plays a positive moderating role in the relationship between entrepreneurial opportunity and entrepreneurial intention. With the increasing interdependence of global business, this study demonstrates empirically that global mindset acts as a variable that has an important influence on entrepreneurial behavior and that global mindset can be used as a measure of global competence. We also discussed the limitations as well as future research directions.

뉴 노멀 저성장 기조와 심각한 청년층의 실업문제 상황에서 정부는 청년창업 활성화 방안 마련과 함께 글로벌 스타트업 육성에 높은 관심을 보이고 있다. 그러나 창업진흥원 실태조사 결과를 살펴보면, 해외시장지향형 기업은 전체 대비 1.4%, 20대 창업기업의 비중은 1.3%로 조사되면서 대학생/청년창업과 청년중심의 글로벌 스타트업은 기대만큼 성과를 이루지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 기존 연구들은 대학생/청년들의 높은 취업선호 성향과 낮은 창업의도를 근본적 원인으로 지적하면서 창업을 촉발시킬 수 있는 변수 탐색에 초점을 맞추어왔으나, 글로벌 스타트업으로의 창업행동과 이에 대한 주요 변수 탐색에는 명확한 답을 제시하고 있지 않다. 이에 본 연구는 대학생/청년의 창업의도와 글로벌 스타트업을 고취시킬 수 있는 주요 변수의 실증적 탐색을 위해 대학생/청년의 창업기회인식이 창업의도에 미치는 영향과 이들 영향관계에서 글로벌 마인드셋의 조절효과를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 결과, 첫째, 창업기회인식은 창업의도에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 선행연구들의 발견과 일관적이다. 둘째, 창업기회인식과 창업의도의 영향관계에서 글로벌 마인드셋은 긍정적 조절역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 전 세계적으로 상호의존성이 점점 높아지고 있는 상황에서 글로벌 마인드셋이 창업행동에 중요한 영향을 끼치는 변수로 작용하고 있음을 실증적으로 규명하였고, 글로벌 마인드셋이 글로벌 역량 평가척도로 사용될 수 있음을 제시한 점에서 본 연구의 의의가 있다. 또한 본 연구의 한계점과 향후 연구방향을 제시하였다.
