Overt and/or covert talents, Knowledge, and skills of older adults are the very important social resources to the public as well as to the private organization. However, volunteering by older people had been less activated in Korea than in most of developed countries. The author addressed the major benefits of the volunteering by them in terms of individual, community, and country. At the same time, he would like to appeal earnestly and expect the activation of volunteering by Korean older adults as social responsibility to the public as well as to their future generations.

노인들은 공적으로나 사적으로 활용의 가치가 매우 높은 중요한 사회적 자원이다. 그러나 우리나라 는 노인들의 자원봉사활동이 다른 선진국들에 비해 활성화되지 못한 실정이다. 이에 필자는 노인들 의 자원봉사활동이 가져다주는 개인 및 사회, 국가적인 이득을 강조했으며, 이와 동시에 노블레스 오 블리주 의식 또는 국가나 미래세대를 위한 의무 차원에서 노인들의 자원봉사활동이 활성화될 수 있 는 사회적 환경의 정착을 기대하고 있다.
