This study analyzes Cha Bum-seok’s ｢OhkDan-Eo!｣ as a carnivalesque play and the viewing experience as pleasure. It also considers the possibility of therapeutic utility from the perspective that carnivalesque play is linked to healing properties. Unlike other works by the artist, ｢OhkDan-Eo!｣ reveals elements such as grotesque laughter, square language, animalism, and lower emphasis. In particular, as self-regulated play and regeneration through death are the laughter of festivals and the laughter of healing, Bakhtin's theory of carnival is a productive point of view from which to analyze the dynamics of laughter. The audience or reader encounter the protagonist 's carnivalesque play with the pleasure and healing with which to deal with the pleasure of human being’s original desire. People who experienced the drama showed distancing by the nature of the stage which strengthened the play, while the reader faced with the text of the play, shows a reaction of identification. The former experienced a laughter that removed vigilance, and the latter gained cognitive insight through emotional understanding, becoming accepters of the two layers embodied in a joy of different meanings. In other words, it can be inferred that the differences in emotional and cognitive awakening in the accepter of the work are caused by self-epic and the operation of the cognitive system.

본고는 차범석 희곡 ｢옥단(玉丹)어!｣를 대상으로 카니발적 유희와 향유 로서의 관극 체험을 고찰하였다. 나아가 카니발적 유희가 치유적 속성과 연결된다는 시각에서 치료적 효용의 가능성을 살펴보았다. ｢옥단어!｣는 작가의 다른 작품과 달리 그로테스크한 웃음, 광장언어, 동물성, 하부 강조 등의 특징이 포착된다. 특히 억압이 내재된 자의적인 유희와 죽음을 통한 재생은 축제의 웃음이자 치유의 웃음이기에, 카니발론을 원용한 작 업은 웃음의 역동성을 분석하기 유효한 시각이다. 또한 인간 본연의 욕구인 ‘유희의 즐거움’을 다루고자 주인공의 카니발 적 유희가 관객 또는 독자의 즐거움, 치유와 어떤 양상으로 조우하는지를 조명하였다. 관극을 경험한 관객은 놀이를 강화한 무대의 특성상 거리두 기를 보인 반면, 희곡 텍스트로 접한 독자는 동일시의 반응을 보였다. 전 자가 경계심을 제거한 웃음을 경험했다면, 후자는 정서적 이해로 인지적 통찰을 얻었다는 점에서 두 층의 수용자는 의미가 다른 즐거움을 체현했 다. 즉 작품의 수용자는 자기 서사와 인지적 체계의 작동에 의해 정서적ㆍ인지적 각성의 차이가 발생함을 추론할 수 있다.
