This study was conducted to investigate the process of how middle-aged women in Busan & Gyeongsangnam-do, who had been relatively passive in political matters actively, involved in participation on the occasion of Sewol-ho accident or Pakr Geun Hye & Choi Soon Sil’s political scandal. For the purpose of developing the theory which describes the process of political re-socialization of middle-aged women based on the results, grounded theory method was applied to explain systematically and theoretically. The participants in this study were 30 middle-aged women with children over elementary school, who live in Busan or Gyeongsangnam-do and respond that they had changed their interest in real politics through preliminary interviews. The data were collected from August to November, 2017, and 2~3 times in-depth interview were performed. As a result, 895 significant statements were derived, which were grouped 86 concepts, which were grouped 44 subcategories, and then were divided into 18 categories in the selection coding stage. Causal conditions, central phenomena, contextual conditions, interventional conditions, action/interaction strategies, and outcome models are visualized through axial coding stage according to the paradigm of grounded theory. Core category, ‶be a participant not for ‘me’ as a bystander but for ‘us’″ are derived at the selective coding stage. The process of the political participation change of middle-aged women has been in five stages, which are facing reality, regretting about political indifference, expressing of interest, finding a way to change, and doing real political participation. It was classified into 4 types of reformer type, pursuing real profits type, hesitation type, and crowd mind type. It was revealed that each type uses a strategy of pursuing a just and great cause, actual profit, wait-and-see policy and relationship with others. This study can help to understand the process of political re-socialization among middle-aged women, and it will be the useful data presenting the necessity of real political education and the future direction of Korean politics in order to participate actively in politics of middle-aged women.

본 연구는 정치 문제에 관해 비교적 소극적이던 중년 여성들이 세월호와 국정농단 사건을 계기로 정치에 적극적으로 참여하게 된 변화 과정을 밝히고, 연구 결과를 바탕으로중년여성들의 정치재사회화 과정을 설명할 수 있는 이론 개발을 목적으로 하였다. 이에최근 드러나고 있는 중년 여성들의 현실정치 참여 현상을 개인이 어떻게 경험하고, 느끼고, 의미를 부여하는가에 대해 체계적이고, 이론적으로 설명할 수 있는 근거이론 방법을적용하여 연구가 실시되었다. 부산‧경남(이하 PK)지역 중년여성 중 초등학생 이상의 자녀를 둔 학부모를 대상으로한 사전 인터뷰에서 현실정치에 대한 관심도에 변화를 느꼈다고 응답한 30명이 연구 참여자로 선정되었고, 심층면담 자료를 분석한 결과 895개의 의미단위와 86개의 개념, 44 개의 하위범주, 그리고 18개의 범주가 개방코딩 단계에서 도출되었다. 근거이론의 패러다임에 따른 축코딩을 통해 인과적 조건, 중심현상, 맥락적 조건, 중재적 조건, 작용/상호작용 전략 및 결과모형을 도식화하였고, 선택코딩을 통해 ‘방관자로서 나를 벗어나 우리를 위한 참여자로 태어남’이라는 핵심범주가 도출되었다. 본 연구 결과 중년여성의 정치참여 변화 과정은 현실 직면, 정치 무관심 후회, 관심 표현, 변화방법 모색, 그리고 현실참여의 다섯 단계로 나타났고, 개혁가형, 실리추구형, 주저형, 군중심리형의 4가지의 유형으로 분석되었으며, 각 유형별로 각각 대의지향 전략, 자(自)이익 중심전략, 눈치전략, 타인과의 관계전략을 사용하는 것으로 드러났다. 본 연구는 중년 여성의 정치재사회화 과정을 이해하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있고, 동시에 중년 여성들의 적극적 정치 참여를 위해 현실적인 정치 교육의 필요성과, 앞으로 한국 정 치가 나아가야할 방향을 제시한 유용한 자료가 될 것이라 사료된다.
