The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effects of inferiority feeling in the relationship between social comparison tendency and social anxiety. To do this, we surveyed 300 university students in Busan area from May 29 to June 8, 2017 and 295 respondents were used for the analysis. Measuring instruments used social comparison tendency, inferiority feeling, and social anxiety scale. T-test and correlation analysis. In addition, to verify the mediating effect of inferiority feeling in the relationship between social comparison tendency and social anxiety, we conducted the three step test and the Sobel test proposed by Baron and Kenny. First, social comparison tendency (t=-3.272, p<0.001) and social anxiety (t=-3.634, p<0.001) showed significant difference between men and women. However, inferiority feeling(t=-.891, p>0.05) was not significantly different between men and women. Second, social comparison tendency showed a significant correlation with inferiority feeling (r=.463, p<.01) and social anxiety (r=.448, p<.01). Third, to verify the mediating effect of inferiority feeling in the relationship between social comparison tendency and social anxiety, we conducted the three - step test and the Sobel test proposed by Baron and Kenny. The result, in the relationship between social comparison and social unrest, inferiority feeling was partially mediated. The implications of this study are as follows: First, I think that it is necessary to search for measures to reduce social comparison tendency because social comparison tendency affects inferiority feeling and social unrest. Especially, it is necessary to review the evaluation method because there is a tendency to encourage the social comparison tendency because the evaluation method of academic performance in the Korean education system is mainly composed of relative evaluation. Second, it suggests the necessity of intervention methods to reduce social comparison tendency and inferiority feeling in counseling of college students who have high social anxiety level.

본 연구는 사회비교성향과 사회불안의 관계에서 열등감의 매개효과를 검증하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 2017년 5월 29일에서 6월 8일까지 10일간 부산지역 대학생 300명을 대상으로 설문을 하였고, 이 중 295명이 응답한 자료를 분석 자료로 사용하였다. 측정도구는 사회비교성향, 열등감, 사회불안 척도를 사용하였다. 각 변인 사이의 관계를알아보기 위해 t-검증, 상관분석을 실시하였다. 또한, 사회비교성향과 사회불안의 관계에서 열등감의 매개효과를 검증하기 위해 중다회기분석으로 Baron과 Kenny가 제시한3단계 검정과정과 Sobel Test를 실시하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 사회비교성향(t=-3.272, p<0.001)과 사회불안(t=-3.634, p<0.001)은 남녀 간의 유의한 차이를 나타내었다. 그러나 열등감(t=-.891, p>0.05)은 남녀 간의 유의한 차이가 없었다. 둘째, 사회비교성향은열등감(r=.463, p<.01), 사회불안(r=.448, p<.01)과 유의미한 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 사회비교성향과 사회불안의 관계에서 열등감의 매개효과를 검증하기 위해Baron과 Kenny가 제시한 3단계 검정과정과 Sobel Test를 실시한 결과, 사회비교와 사회불안의 관계에서 열등감이 부분매개 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과의 시사점은첫째, 사회비교성향이 열등감과 사회불안에 영향을 미치는 것으로 보아 사회비교성향을 줄이는 방안에 대한 모색이 필요하다고 생각한다. 특히, 우리나라 교육제도에서 학업 수행에 대한 평가방식이 상대평가가 주를 이루고 있어 사회비교성향을 부추기는 경향이 있으므로 평가방식에 대한 검토가 필요하다고 생각한다. 둘째, 사회불안 수준이높은 대학생 내담자의 상담에 있어 사회비교성향과 열등감을 줄이는 개입방법의 필요성을 시사한다.
