In this paper, we looked at the patterns of acceptance of the Western system by dividing them into parenting, education, diplomatic acceptance, and acceptance of politics and social institutions among the works created in the Patriotic Enlightenment Period. There are different aspects presented by Confucian scholars(儒學者), a man of Eastern thought and Western interest(東道西器論者), and enlightened scholars(啓蒙主義者), but one voice. One voice is to correct the collapsing Joseon Dynasty and make it a powerful country. The Joseon Dynasty has not changed at all and just followed what it had done before, so it was ruined. Knowledgeers of the Korean Peninsula are also advising that if Joseon teaches theology with a new system and culture in the new world, there is a way to live in the present Joseon Dynasty. But the question is, did they actually operate that way. When new cultures and systems are introduced and accepted, people's evaluations vary according to their values and preferences. There are things that are comfortable to do, but it is important to do. And it is even more important to influence the undercurrents of the society and to be together. Patriotic dreamers are those who have tried to put these claims into practice.

본고에서는 애국계몽기에 창작된 작품 중에서 서양 제도의 수용 양상들을 양육 및 교육과 외교의 수용과 정치와 사회제도 및 신문물의 수용으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 여기에는 유학자, 동도서기론자, 계몽주의자들이 제시한 양상은 다르지만 한 목소리를 내고 있다. 그 한 목소리는 바로 망해가는 조선을 바로 잡고 부강한 나라로 만들자는 것이다. 지금까지의 조선은 아무런 변화도 없고 그저 그 전에 해오던 것을 그냥 따라만 하고 있어서 망국을 맞았다고 한탄을 하였다. 새로운 세상에서 새로운 제도와 문물을 가지고 신학문을 가르친다면 지금의 조선은 살 방법이 있음을 애국계몽기 지식인들은 아울러 조언하고 있다. 새로운 문물과 제도가 유입되고 수용될 때에는 그 가치와 기호에 따라서 사람들의 평가가 다양해진다. 반드시 해야 하는 것과 반드시는 아니지만 하면 편한 것이 있는데, 이를 실행하는 것과 사회의 저변에까지 영향을 주어 함께 하는 것이 더 중요하다. 애국계몽기 지식인들은 이러한 주장을 현실에 실천하려고 노력한 자들이다.
