No.87 in Naejuk-ri Tombs 6 in Sunheung Yeongju which is located at 335 Sunheung-myeon, Yeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province is the stone chamber with horizontal entrance style and is estimated to be built in the late 5th and early 6th centuries. It is difficult to grasp the original scale and shape of the mound because of loss. However it is confirmed that the main burial chamber’s size is 570㎝ long, 170~230㎝ wide and 120~178㎝ tall. The overall structure of the tomb is similar to another tombs found in Sunheung area. But The tomb of No.87 has the particularity of two layers of wall that has never been found in another tombs in Sunheung area before. It is presumed that the technique came not from itself in Sunheung, but from Silla or Goguryeo. As mentioned above, the structure of two layers of wall has never been found before in Sunheuong area, so the tomb of No.87 is regarded to be a high historical·academic tomb. Through this report, we hope the tomb of No.87 get to be widely known in the academic world, which lead to the excavation.

영주 순흥 내죽리고분군6-87호분은 경북 영주시 순흥면 335번지에 위치하는 삼국시대 횡구식석실이다. 석실의 축조 시기는 대략 5세기 말 ∼ 6세기 초에 해당할 것으로 추정하였다. 봉토는 대부분 삭평되어 현재 그 형태를 제대로 파악하기 어려웠고, 석실의 규모는 길이 약 570㎝, 너비 약 170∼230㎝, 높이 약 120∼178㎝로 확인되었다. 석실의 전체적인 구조는 순흥지역에서 기왕에 조사된 삼국시대 횡구식석실과 유사하나견고하게 축조된 이중벽체 구조는 매우 독특한 요소임이 분명하였다. 그러나 이러한 축조기술은 당시 순흥지역에서 자체 발생한 것으로는 보기 어렵고, 이 지역의 삼국시대 고분전개에 신라와 고구려가 깊이 관계된 점으로 보아 이러한 배경에서 비롯되었을 것으로 추정하였다. 이중벽체 구조의 횡구식석실은 지금까지 그 발견 사례가 드물기 때문에 이러한 부분에중점을 두고 금번 순흥 내죽리고분군6-87호분의 학술적 가치를 언급하였다. 이에 향후발굴조사가 진행되어 삼국시대 횡구식석실 및 순흥지역 고분 연구에 많은 도움이 되기를기대한다.
