The meaning of the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ is the core content of the Christian faith. Hebrews of the New Testament linked this to the theme of 'blood shedding' with the ‘law’ in Heb. 9:22. This paper refers Lev. 17:10-14 as the background text of the Hebrews 9:22. Then it tries to exegesis Lev. 17:10-14 in the context of Lev. 17 and search the connected texts of Lev. 17:10-14 in the OT and NT. Finally, this study attempts to interpret the message of the texts (Lev. 17:10-14 and Heb. 9:22) in the context of the entire canon. The methodology used for this purpose is an exegetical study of the 'canonical unfolding.' The blood means life in Lev. 17. The meaning of blood is the common denominator of the laws of sacrifice and the law of food in Lev. 17. The origin of this passage can be seen in the text (Gen, 9:4-6) that links the theme of Imago Dei (God’s image) in Gen. 9 with the shedding of human blood. Along with Gen. 9 and Lev. 17, Deut. 12 also forbids the drinking of blood (12:23-25). Matt. 26 combines the subject of blood with the theme of the ‘new covenant’ in the Lord's Supper ritual (the sacrament Communion) that emphasizes the life of Jesus Christ (Matt. 26:26-29). And in Hebrews, it was understood that this theme was expressed through a Christological reinterpretation emphasizing both 'life' and 'atonement death'. This paper showed that the texts of the "blood" in the Bible needs to be commented on, recognizing that various theological dimensions, the meanings such as "life", "death of atonement" and "God's image." It also reveals that the texts on the issue of blood in the Bible showed close canonical continuity between the OT and NT.

본 논문은 구약의 레위기 17장 11절의 ‘피’에 관한 율법을 히브리서 9장의 ‘율법’과 ‘피’와 ‘속죄’에 관한 내용의 배경 본문으로 보고, 레위기 17장 11절이 레위기 17장의 자체 본문 가운데서 갖는 주석적 의미를 파악한 후에, 이 본문과 연관된 ‘피’에 관한 규정의 본문들을 찾아서 비교 분석하고 각 본문의 특징과 강조점들을 파악함으로써, 구약과 신약의 다른 책들에서 그 내용들이 어떻게 전개되었는지를 해석하고, 다시 정경 전체의 맥락 속에서 구약과 신약 본문의 메시지를 새롭게 해석하고자 하는 시도를 하였다. 이를 위하여 사용한 방법론은 ‘정경적 전개’에 관한 주석적 연구이다. 피가 생명을 뜻한다는 레위기 17장 11절 본문과 레위기 17장의 피에 관한 음식법과 제사법의 의미와 기능은 구약과 신약의 최종본문들 (창 9:4-6, 신 12:23-25, 마 26:26-29, 히 9:19-22) 사이에서 강조점을 달리하여 전개되는 과정을 거쳐, 피에 관한 율법이 마태복음에서 ‘성례전’의 생명을 강조한 ‘언약의 피’로서 새로운 차원의 의미가 부여되고, 히브리서에서는 이 주제가 ‘생명’과 ‘대속적 죽음’을 동시에 강조하는 기독론적 재해석을 통해 표현되었음을 파악할 수 있었다. 그러므로 성경의 ‘피’에 관한 본문은 ‘생명’과 ‘대속의 죽음’과 ‘하나님의 형상’ 등 다양한 신학적 의미가 연결된 다층적인 특징을 내포하고 있음을 인식하면서 주석하는 작업이 필요하다는 사실과 이 주제를 담은 본문들은 긴밀한 정경적 연속성을 보여주고 있다는 특징을 확인할 수 있었다.
