The purpose of this study is to create a way to distinguish between a genuine and a counterfeit of Goryeo Metal movable type. To achieve it, the study first examined the traits of the genuine of the Metal movable type according to the contents of the scientific analysis from Cultural Heritage Administration for 101 numbers of Daboseongsojang Goryeo Metal movable type, a movable type of ‘bok’ in National Museum of Korea, 10 numbers of ‘unmunjasoja’, and 20 numbers of ‘imjinja’ and so on. Next, the study revealed the difference between the metal composition and metal tissue of a genuine (assumption) and a counterfeit (assumption) of Goryeo Metal movable type by analyzing the metal composition of privately owned 4 genuines (assumption) of metal movable type, 4 counterfeits (assumption), and 5 Goryeo Bronze seals which are the key of the research.

본 연구의 목적은 고려금속활자의 진품과 위작을 가려낼 수 있는 하나의 방안을 마련해 보는 것이다. 이를 위해 본고에서는 먼저 다보성소장 고려금속활자 101개 및 국립중앙박물관소장 ‘복’활자 1개, ‘언문자소자’ 10개, ‘임진자’ 20개 등의 금속활자에 대한 문화재청의 과학적 분석결과 내용에 의거하여 금속활자 진품의 특징을 살펴보았다. 그 다음 본 연구의 핵심인 개인소장 금속활자 진품[추정](4개)과 위작[추정](4개) 및 고려청동인장[추정](5개)의 금속성분 분석을 통하여 고려금속활자 진품[추정]과 위작[추정]의 금속성분과 금속조직의 차이점을 밝혔다.
