This research is a bibliographical analysis on ‘Volume 1 of Dalma-Daesa Gwansimnon (達磨大師觀心論一卷｣) with the colophon of 1335 held at Baegcheonsa (百泉寺) Temple’. Major findings are as follows. 1) Gwansimnon is the analects of Dalma-Daesa, the progenitor of Zen Buddhism in China, about Buddhistic conscience and mentality. It is based on the idea that since mind is the core of everything, people can reach a state of Buddha with spiritual awakening. 2) It was confirmed that according to the preface of Gwansimnon held at Baegcheonsa Temple, people in the Goryeo (高麗) Period put their definite confidence in this book as the core elements of Zen Buddhism to be spiritually enlightened. 3) It was also confirmed that Gwansimnon held at Baegcheonsa Temple was bound with four holes which represented the unique binding style in the Goryeo Period. It proves that this book was printed and produced in the Goryeo Period. 4) Papers of Gwansimnon demonstrated with such features as ① a thickness of 0.06∼0.12㎜ and a single leaf, ② 17 base lines of paper manufacture, and ③ a base string width of 3.1㎝ or 3.5㎝. These were the same as or similar to those features of temple editions published in the late Goryeo Period, but much different from those in the early Joseon (朝鮮) Period. Therefore this book was ascertained to be published in the 14th century in the Goryeo Period.

이 논문은 ‘百泉寺 소장, 1335년 刊記의 ｢達磨大師觀心論一卷｣’에 관한 書誌的 연구이다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) ｢觀心論｣은 중국 禪宗의 初祖인 達磨大師가 說한 마음법(心法)에 관한 語錄이다. ‘마음은 萬法의 근본이기 때문에, 마음을 깨치기만(了心) 하면 부처의 경지(佛道)를 이룰 수 있다’는 것을 핵심 요지로 하고 있다. 2) 百泉寺 所藏本의 跋文에서 확인된 바, 14세기의 高麗人들은 이 책을 ‘마음을 깨닫기 위한 禪宗의 핵심 綱要書’로 절대적으로 신뢰하고 있었다. 3) 百泉寺本의 製冊에 있어서 그 假綴 방법이 ‘四綴紙捻’임을 확인하였다. 이 방법은 高麗 特有의 製冊法으로 볼 수 있다. 따라서 이 책은 고려시대에 인쇄․제작되었음이 파악된다. 4) 이 책을 인쇄한 종이 紙質의 특징은 ‘①종이두께: 0.06∼0.12㎜ ; 홑장, ②발촉수: 楮紙 17촉 등, ③발끈폭: 3.1㎝ 또는 3.5㎝’ 등으로, 고려 後期 寺刹本의 그것과 同一하거나 類似하였다. 朝鮮初期 사찰본 종이의 특징과는 確然한 차이를 보였다. 따라서 이 책은 高麗時代 14世紀 後期에 出版되었을 것임을 糾明하였다.
