Introduction: The purpose of this study is to clarify whether occupational therapy is a essential area for establishing community care and to emphasize the necessity of occupational therapy by providing basic data on the roles of occupational therapists in the community care system. Results: Based on the background regarding the emergence of communities, we reviewed case studies of community care in Korea. According to the direction of the community care promotion by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, within the community care system, occupational therapists provide rehabilitation and healthcare services for children with premature and developmental disabilities in the community, hospice palliative care for terminally ill patients, case management for mental health care and nursing facility expatriates, and the provision of services in an interim model for discharge support services. Conclusion: To establish a successful role of occupational therapist in a community system, an international classification of functioning-based evaluation tools should be developed and a study model of occupational therapy should be developed in a community care system. It is also necessary to formulate an institutional framework for carrying out the roles of a case meeting and case manager.

서론 : 본 연구는 커뮤니티 케어 제도 내에서 제공 가능한 작업치료 서비스를 모색하고 작업치료사의 역할에 대한 기초자료를 제공함으로써, 작업치료가 커뮤니티 케어 확립에 필수적인 전문영역임을 명시하고 그 필요성을 강조하고자 하였다. 본론 : 커뮤니티 출현 배경을 토대로 선험국과 국내 커뮤니티 케어 운영 사례를 고찰하였다. 보건복지부의 커뮤니티 케어 추진 방향에 따른 서비스 종합 안내기능 개념도에서 제공할 수 있는 작업치료 역할은 다 음과 같았다. 커뮤니티 케어 제도 내에서 작업치료사는 방문재활 서비스, 주거환경 평가 및 환경수정 서 비스, 재활 및 활동지원 서비스, 지역사회 내 미숙아 및 발달장애 아동에 대한 재활 및 건강관리 서비스, 말기 클라이언트를 위한 호스피스 완화의료, 정신의료 및 요양시설의 퇴소자들에 대한 사례관리, 퇴원지 원 서비스, 그리고 중간시설에서 사례관리 서비스 등을 제공할 수 있다. 결론 : 커뮤니티 제도 내에서 작업치료사의 성공적인 역할 정립을 위해 국제기능장애건강분류(International Classification of Functioning, disability, and health; ICF)모델을 기반으로 한 평가도구의 개발 및 커뮤니티 케어 제도 내 작업치료 실행모델에 대한 개발 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다. 또한 사례회의 및 사례관리자로서의 역할을 수행하기 위한 제도적인 구축 마련이 필요하다.
