This paper is a study on the diplomatic recognition of Jibong Lee Su-Kwang’s(芝峯 李睟光, 1563∼1628). He was a great scholar of the Joseon Dynasty. In addition, it was excellent diplomatic represent ative. In 1614 he wrote the Korea’s first encyclopedia. The title of the book is 『Jibong Yuseol(芝峯類說)』. This book presents a new perspective to the geography of the world to Koreans. 1597year, he met with representative of the Vietnamese diplomatic in Beijing. 16th Century China was a nation of advanced culture. Therefore They exchanged Opinion by Chinese characters. Dialogue content was very extensive. In connection with the two countries history, culture, politics, geography, customs, weather. Later, this conversation was edited into a book. The title of the book is 『The Records of Exchanging Questions and Answers with a Vietnamese Envoy(安南國使臣唱和問答錄)』. According to a Cultural exchanges perspectives, This book is a very important document in the diplomatic relations between Korea and Vietnam. The reason is that the dialogue between Lee, Su-Kwang and the Vietnamese ambassador contains many clues to understand the world and world geography standards shared by East Asian intellectuals in the 16th and 17th centuries.

이 논문은 지봉 이수광(1563∼1628)의 사행이력과 관련하여 그의 저술에 나타난 베트남 인식을 고찰하고 있다. 이수광은 조선 중기의 성리학자이며 실학자이다. 그는 또한 뛰어난 문장력과 외교능력을 겸비한 문인이자 외교관이었다. 때문에 그는 28세 때 성절사 서장관, 35세 때 진위사, 49세 때 주청사 부사 자격으로 세 차례나 중국을 다녀왔다. 이수광은 두 번째 중국 사행을 떠났을 때, 明나라의 수도 북경에 체류하면서 베트남[안남국]에서 온 원로사신 의재 풍극관(1528∼1613)과 만난다. 이수광과 풍극관은 약 50일 가량 같은 숙소인 옥하관에 머물면서 필담을 나눴다. 중국에서 돌아온 이수광은 베트남 사신과 나눈 창화 및 문답 내용을 묶어 「안남국사신창화문답록」이라는 제목으로 한권의 문답록을 집필하였다. 당시 그들의 대화는 오로지 필담에 의한 것이었다. 하지만 이 만남은 한국과 베트남의 교류관계에 있어서 새로운 장을 여는 하나의 계기를 마련하였다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 「안남국사신창화문답록」을 중심으로, 16∼17세기 무렵 한국과 베트남의 교류관계를 고찰해보고자 한다. 그 이유는 이를 통해 16∼17세기 동아시아 지식인들이 공유한 세계인식의 기준은 무엇에 근거하고 있었으며, 앞으로 한국과 베트남의 외교관계에 있어서 개선되고 보완되어야 할 점은 무엇인가를, 보다 분명히 가늠해 보기 위해서이다.
