The purpose of this study is to investigate the interaction among musical interest, empathy and problem solving style out of university students. The experimental group involves 299 students of an university liberal art class about music subject, located in D city, South Korea. Analysis of data was conducted by SPSS 18.0 program in reliability analysis, descriptive statistic, pearson's correlation and multiple regression. The results are as follows: first, musical interest, empathy and problem solving style of university students were above average in their scores. Second, there was a positive correlation among musical interest and empathy of experimental group. A positive correlation was found (i) between musical interest and problem solving tendency and (ii) empathy and problem solving tendency. Third, problem-solving tendency of university students as well as its sub variance, inclusive of self confidence, approach and avoidance, self control of individual and etc. was affected by musical interest and cognitive empathy.

본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 음악흥미도, 공감능력, 문제해결성향의 관계를 탐색하는데 있다. 본 연 구의 대상은 D시에 위치한 4년제 대학에 재학 중인 대학생 중 교양수업으로 음악과 관련 된 과목을 수강하고 있는 대학생 299명이다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 18.0 프로그램을 통하여 신뢰 도분석, 기술통계, 상관분석, 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다, 첫째, 대학생 의 음악흥미도, 공감능력, 문제해결성향은 평균보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대학생의 음악 흥미도는 공감능력과 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 (i) 대학생의 음악흥미도와 문제해결성향, (ii) 대학생의 공감능력과 문제해결성향 사이에 정적인 상관관계가 나타났다. 셋째, 대학생의 문제해결성향에 대한 음악흥미도와 공감능력의 영향력을 분석한 결과, 대학생의 문제 해결성향 전체와 하위영역인 자신감, 접근-회피, 개인의 통제력, 기타 모두에서 음악흥미도와 인 지적 공감이 설명력 있는 변인으로 나타났다.
