Lentinula edodes strain 3420 was bred by Mono-mono crossing of Sanbaekhyang and Sanjo 7 ho cultivars. Mycelial growth was the highest at 27°C. Mycelial growth rate was 9.2 mm per one day, which was faster than Sanbaekhyang (7.9 mm per one day) which was developed previously. The strain 3420 showed the yield of fresh fruit-body (351 g per 2 kg media) at 1-st occurrence, when it grew in brick-shaped sawdust media with 100-days incubation period. The strain showed hemispherical fruitbody, brown pileus of 71.3 mm in diameter, 16.3 mm in thickness of pileus. 40.9 mm in diameter of stipe and 12.9 mm in thickness of stipe. Fruit-body production was most at spring and fall. The fruiting showed sporadic occurrence.
