There is the thing of 'state borders' on the base of traditional international politics, which takes anarchy as its fundamental principle and pursues peace as its constant purpose. Nevertheless, the studies on the thing of 'state borders' have been easily ruled out regarding as a cognitive frame or a fixed constant already given. And the scopes and subjects of international politics have been adhered to "relations of states with exclusive sovereignty" as external aspects. That is, based on the state borders, the fundamental principle of international politics of anarchy emerges and, in the same way, based on the anarchy, the constant purpose of international politics of peace pursues. Here, the necessity of the studies that sit on the thing of 'state borders' itself is required. This study tried to deduce the connotations of the state borders from 'change'. Therefore, this study starts from the concept of the state borders (Chapter 2), passes through the characteristics of the state borders (Chapter 3), grasps the strategy of the state borders(Chapter 4), and arrives at the change of the state borders(Chapter 5).

무정부성을 그 본원적 토대로 삼고, 전쟁의 방지와 평화의 창출을 그 목적으로 표방하는 전통적 국제정 치학의 기저에는 국가적 경계가 존재하고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 국가적 경계 그 자체에 관한 연구는 이 미 주어진 인식의 틀 내지 고정된 상수로 간주된 채 배제되어 왔고, 학문적 연구의 범위와 대상은 이에 후행 하는 양상으로서의 ‘배타적 주권을 보유한 국가 간 관계’로 설정되어 왔다. 즉, 국가적 경계에 기하여 비로 소, 무정부적 국제 체계가 등장하는 것이고, 이 무정부적 국제 체계에 기하여 비로소, 전쟁과 평화의 논리가 출현하는 것이다. 여기에, 국가적 경계 자체에 천착하는 근원적 연구의 필요성이 제기되는 것이다. 본 연구 에서는 이와 같은 국가적 경계의 본질을 ‘변화’로부터 추론하여 규명하고자 하였다. 이에, 본 연구는 경계 (borders)를 중심으로 한 국가적 경계의 개념으로부터 출발하여(제2장), 모순(contradictions)으로 규정 되는 국가적 경계의 특성을 경유하고(제3장), 영토성(territoriality)을 핵심으로 한 국가적 경계의 전략을 파악한 후(제4장), 지구화(globalization)에 직면한 국가적 경계의 변화로 귀속된다(제5장).
