In this paper, we focus on the Chinese poetry(漢詩), Jeon(傳), Novel(小說) based on the 'Park Hyo-rang(朴孝娘) incident and to escape from the existing research that try to elucidate its characteristics and deduce its political and social overtones. So we try to look at the immediate reactions of the incident in the framework of 'power'. Therefore, in contrast to Park Hyo-rang's quest for the artist's consciousness and realistic context in his literary works, focusing on the process of disposing of the events, we dealt with the question of how the political clout group of 'power' responded to this incident. As we have seen in previous studies, it is true that this event attracted enormous social attention because of the political confrontation and the fact that women practiced 'Hyosung', a philosophical ideology. However, after the incident happened, a text maximizing emotional Influence using literary rhetoric was systematically written, this led to the domination of public opinion in the 'Park Hyo-rang's family. This public opinion not only contributed to the initiation of the investigation of the case, but also indirect pressure on the handling of the case. This is no different from the fact that today, as in the word 'press power', indirectly affects the events by promoting and forming collective and one-sided public opinion at a certain distance from the truth of the events. In addition, 'faction power', which is used as a means of attacking opponents who are politically involved in the process of the case, is also confirmed. As a representative example Kim Li-dal (金履達)'s appeal strongly demanded punishment for political opponents. This was also perceived as a political attack at the time. In the case of the Court of the investigation of the case as a 'state power', the judgments were somewhat contradictory to the results of the investigation. This view seems to be a strategic choice of the nation that accepted the public opinion at the time, but made it fit the national ideology of 'Filial duty'. In this way, when the 'Park Hyo-rang incident' focuses on the reactions of the political power groups, it can confirm the true point of accepting this event in the late Chosun society.

본고에서는 ‘朴孝娘 사건’을 소재로 한 漢詩, 傳, 小說 등에 주목하여 그 특징을 밝히고 정치·사회적 함의를 도출하고자 한 기존 연구에서 벗어나, 사건 당대의 즉각적인 대응들을 ‘권력’이라는 틀에서 살펴보고자 하였다. 따라서 박효랑을 두고 ‘어떻게 기억할 것인가’라는 문제를 담은 문학 작품에서 작가 의식과 현실적 맥락을 고구하는 것과 달리, 사건의 처분 과정에 초점을 맞추어 정치 권력이 이 사건에 ‘어떻게 대응하는가’ 하는 문제를 다루었다. 기존 연구에서 밝혀졌듯이, 이 사건이 지니는 정치적 대립 구도나 여성이 성리학적 이념인 ‘효’를 실천한 측면 때문에 당시 엄청난 사회적 반향이 있었다. 그런데 사건이 일어난 후 문학적 수사를 활용하여 감성적 파급력을 극대화한 통문이 지방 유림들에 의해 조직적으로 작성되었고, 이로 인해 박효랑 집안에 동조하는 여론이 지배적으로 형성될 수 있었다. 이러한 여론은 국가가 사건 조사를 착수하는 데 기여했을 뿐만 아니라, 사건을 처분하는 데에도 간접적인 압박으로 작용했다. 이는 마치 오늘날 ‘언론 권력’이라는 말처럼, 사건의 진실과는 일정한 거리를 둔 채 집단적이고 일방적인 여론이 조장·형성되면서 사건에 대해 일정 영향을 끼치는 것과 다르지 않다. 또한 이 사건이 처분되는 과정에서 정치적으로 대척 관계에 놓인 상대를 공격하는 수단으로 활용한 ‘붕당 권력’도 존재하였다. 대표적으로 金履達 상소에서 사건의 당사자의 요구와 달리 政敵의 처벌을 강력하게 요구하였고, 이러한 점이 당대 정치적 공격으로 인식되기도 하였다. 마지막으로 ‘국가 권력’으로서 사건 조사를 착수한 朝廷에서는 그 조사 결과와는 달리 다소 모순적인 처분을 내렸다. 이러한 면은 당시 여론을 수용하면서도 ‘효’라는 국가 이념에 부합하도록 조치한 국가의 전략적 선택으로 보인다. 이처럼 ‘박효랑 사건’은 ‘여성의 효의 실천’과 ‘중앙과 지방 권력 간의 갈등’이라는 사건 발단 단계의 이해에서 벗어나 사건 발발 이후 유림, 붕당, 국가라는 정치 권력의 대응들에 착목할 때 조선 후기 사회에서 이 사건을 수용하는 진면목을 확인할 수 있다.
