This study compared the basic policy, current situation and goal of career education in special schools in Japan and Korea. Besides, it aims to examine how career education in Korea is being conducted at the school site using qualitative research (M-GTA). The results led by this research are as follows. First of all, the definition and concept of career education in Korean and Japanese special schools are very similar, but we could observe that Japan is more clearly oriented towards career education and its goals than Korea. And since Korean career education focuses on course and vocational education, there is a lack of sharing of recognition and practice of long-term and systematic educational curriculum with awareness of social participation of disabled students and quality of life There. However, career education in Japan is characterized by focusing on comprehensive educational activities aware of the quality of life, rather than vocational education in which the primary focus was on the employment of disabled students is there. Moreover, the qualitative research result is that the educational program at each stage developed in the Korean special school is also important, but most importantly the teachers and guardians of schools, the subjects of each stage, the practitioners of the area and companies. It was found that the change in attitudes towards handicapped students and consideration and encouragement were most necessary. And with this, it has been drawn that students with disabilities can carry out their own roles successfully as a member of society after graduation and become an important key to living self-development and a happy life.
