In the Fire Fighting industry, the technical grades of engineers are automatically upgraded with the increase of the number of service years due to the lack of Training and Upgrading Education System. In accordance with the ｢Fire-Fighting System Installation Business Act｣, there is an education program in the Fire Fighting industry but the current education system of Fire Fighting engineers is too standardized. Now that is a hindrance to the technological improvement of Fire Fighting engineers. This study highlighted the problems of current education system of the Fire Fighting industry, and also proposed to introduce the Training and Upgrading Education System to Fire Fighting engineers. Details, such as subjects, organization, and legislation for training and upgrading education system of Fire Fighting industry, were suggested as well. The introduction of Training and Upgrading Education System for Fire Fighting engineers is an essential requirement for national security. The Training and Upgrading Education System will definitely contribute to the development of the Fire Fighting industry and the security of the nation by improving the technological capability of the Fire Fighting engineers and increasing the capability of on-site response of engineers. Overall, it is a highly urgent issue to introduce and implement the Training and Upgrading Education System for the Fire Fighting industry as a basic foundation for fostering the Fire Fighting engineers. It will secure the technological power of Fire Fighting engineers and the safety of nations.

최근 들어 사회적으로 주목받고 있는 소방산업이 지금의 영세한 위치에서 주요 산업으로 성장하고, 소방분야 중소기업 육성 및 산업 활성화를 추구하기 위해서는 소방산업을 이끌 어가는 핵심주체인 소방기술자의 기술력 향상 및 전문성 확보가 뒷받침되어야 한다. 소방 기술자의 기술력 및 전문성이 소방공사의 품질시공을 가능하게 하고, 이것이 소방공사 및 소방기술자에 대한 신뢰도 향상과 나아가 국민의 안전으로 귀결되기 때문이다. 소방기술자의 기술력 향상 및 전문성 확보를 통한 시공품질 향상 및 소방산업의 발전을 위해서는 현행의 소방기술자 교육제도를 개선하고 기술자 양성·승급 교육제도를 도입하 여 시행하는 것이 시급하다. 이를 위해서는 전체 소방분야 기술자 교육시스템을 개선해야 할 필요가 있다. 무조건적으로 건설, 전기, 정보통신 등과 같은 유관분야의 교육제도를 그대로 적용하는 것이 아니라, 소방분야만의 고유한 특성을 고려하고 다양한 전문가 및 관계단체들의 의견들을 청취·반영하여 교육제도, 커리큘럼, 프로그램 등을 개선하여 도 입해야 할 것이다. 이에 따라, 본 연구에서는 ‘소방기술자 양성·승급 교육제도’의 도입 과 함께 소방분야 기술자 교육시스템에 대한 총체적 개선의 병행 필요성을 제시하였다.
