This study seeks to confirm the characteristics of pronunciation in Korean diphtongs spoken by Vietnamese female students studying Korean as a second language, and to predict errors through an acoustical method. In this way provision can be made for basic materials to enable correct pronunciation of diphtongs and aid communication with Koreans in the future through the acquisition of accurate pronunciation. Vietnamese female students and Korean female students were asked to read Korean diphthongs /ya/, /wa/, and /ɰi/, and voice data was recorded. In order to investigate the phonetic features, the formants were analyzed using the PRAAT program and the slopes of F1 and F2 were obtained. After listening to the recordings, two evaluators performed listening evaluations using the Likert scale (5 points). Vietnamese female students showed high formant values in all Korean diphthongs compared to Korean female students, and there was no difference between F1 and F2 only at T1 Korean diphthongs /ya/, and /wa/. However, the F2 values at the T2 and T3 points of the Korean diphthong /ɰi/ were different between the two groups. There was no difference between the two groups when the slope was measured using the formant value. However, female Vietnamese students showed a steep slope of F2 especially when articulating Korean diphthong /ɰi/. As a result of the listening evaluation, female students in Vietnam showed higher scores but not statistically significant. Vietnamese speakers showed a tendency to articulate their mouths more than Korean speakers at the point of starting the articulation, and Vietnamese students were more active in tongue movements than Korean students.

본 연구의 목적은 제2외국어로서 한국어를 학습하는 베트남 여학생을대상으로 그들이 한국어의 이중모음 산출 시 나타나는 발음의 특징을 확인하고 한국어 이중모음 산출 시 나타날 수 있는 오류를 예측함으로써 정확한 한국어 이중모음 발음 교육을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고, 향후 정확한 발음 습득을 통한 한국인과의 의사소통을 원활이 하는 데 도움을 주는데 그 목적이 있다. 베트남 여학생과 한국인 여학생을 대상으로 그들이산출하는 한국어 이중모음 /야/, /와/, /의/를 읽게 한 후 이를 녹음하여 발음 특징을 알아보기 위해 PRAAT프로그램을 이용하여 포먼트를 분석하고이를 활용하여 제 1포먼트(이하 F1)와 제 2포먼트(이하 F2)의 기울기를 구하였다. 녹음 자료를 듣고 평가자 2인이 리커트척도(5점)를 이용해서 청취평가를 하였다. 그 결과 베트남 여학생은 한국인 여학생에 반해 모든 이중모음에서 높은 포먼트 값을 보였고, 이중모음 /야/와 /와/의 이중모음이시작되는 지점(T1)에서 F1과 F2에서만은 두 집단 간에 차이가 없었다. 그러나 이중모음 /의/에서는 활음이 끝나는 지점(T2)과 전체 이중모음이 끝나는 지점(T3)에서 F2 값이 두 집단 간에 차이를 보였다. 포먼트 값을 이용해서 기울기를 측정한 결과 두 집단 간에 차이는 없었다. 청취 결과 베트남여학생의 점수가 더 높게 나타났으나 통계적으로 유의한 수준은 아니었다. 베트남 여학생은 한국어 이중모음을 조음하는 데 있어 조음 시작 지점에서 입을 과장되게 크게 벌려 조음하는 경향을 보였고 혀의 움직임은비교적 활발함을 알 수 있었다.
