Today, due to the development of the technique, method of making letters: printing type skills are made and received much easier than before.Also, according as development computer, the thing to deliver a transmit element of the language the letter or to express in the visual language made that everyone can make and deliver just pushing the keyboard.Typo illustration means that the letter has a visual expression with a structural expression not just an information delivery and it also means art of the purpose to help the communication with a pictorial expression of the letter. This thesis makes an investigation into the modern expression concept of 'typo illustration' among of the typographic communication, analyzing communication expression method from the works. First of all, understanding the concept of typo illustration and then wiling to study about the expression according to the similarity of the form, the visualizing expression of abstract attribute and the symbol a matter of the expression technique of a typo illustration

오늘날 기술의 발달로 인하여 글자를 만들어내는 수단, 즉 활자 인쇄술은 전보다 훨씬 쉽게 만들어 지고 접할 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 컴퓨터의 발달에 따라 언어의 전달요소인 글자를 전달하거나 시각언어로 표현하기가 누구나 손쉽게 만들고 전달할 수 있게 되었다. 타이포 일러스트레이션이란 글자가 단순한 정보의 전달 이외의 형태적 표현을 가지고 있는 시각적 표현 수단으로 글자의 회화적 표현을 통해 커뮤니케이션을 돕는 목적미술을 의미하고도 한다. 본 연구는 타이포그래피 커뮤니케이션 방법 중에 ‘타이포 일러스트레이션’이라는 방법의 범위를 제한하여 현대적 개념의 타이포 일러스트레이션의 표현의 개념을 살펴보고 커뮤니케이션 표현방법들을 작품을 통해서 분석하였다.먼저 타이포 일러스트레이션의 개념을 이해하고 타이포 일러스트레이션의 기능과 표현기법들을 형태의 유사성에 따른 표현, 추상적 속성의 시각화에 따른 표현, 상징에 따른 표현에 따라 연구하고자 하였다.
