This study is intended to make a Feng-shui examination of the possibility and limitation as the location for capital city of Reunified Korea of Jeokseong area recommended as the candidate site for the capital site of Chosun Dynasty in its early period, infer the reason for its failure to be determined as the capita site and examine a possibility of its development as the hinterland city for the reunification of the Korean peninsula. The candidate sites recommended as the capital city of Chosun Dynasty in its early period are Seon-gogae and Mount Gyejok. This study attempted to make a Feng-shui examination of them through the in-site survey. It was found that Mount Gyeojok is better than Seon-gogae from a perspective of Feng Shui but not suitable as the guardian mountain of the capital city of Reunified Korea in terms of force and as the location of the capital city due to its failure to have a big river and a small lie of the land. Accordingly, the whole area of Jeokseong would have a possibility of development as the hinterland city if the capital city of Reunifed Korea is located in Gaeseong or Jangdan. It is thought that it is desirable that it, including Gawol-ri, Juwol-ri, Wondang-ri and Nogok-ri forming Santaegeuk-Sutaegeuk, should be developed as the garden city of the metropolitan area of Reunified Korea.

본 연구는 조선 초 천도 후보지로 추천되었던 적성 지역에 대한 통일수도 입지로서의 가능성과 한계를 풍수적으로 검토하여 정도가 이루어지지 못한 사유를 추단하고, 향후 통 일에 대비한 배후 도시로서의 개발 가능성을 검토하기 위한 것이다. 천도 후보지로 거론되었던 곳은 선고개와 계족산이다. 현장답사를 통한 풍수적 검토 결 과, 선고개 대비 계족산이 풍수적으로 우수하나, 그 기세가 통일수도의 주산으로 부족하 며, 큰 강을 끼지 못하고 국세가 작아 수도 입지로 미흡하다. 따라서 통일 수도가 개성 또 는 장단 등에 입지할 경우 적성 일대는 배후도시로서의 발전 가능성이 있으며, 산태극수 태극의 지형을 이루는 가월리·주월리, 원당리와 노곡리를 포함하여 통일 수도권의 전원형 도시로 발전하는 것이 바람직해 보인다.
