｢-te kureru(-てくれる)｣(hereinafter, “-te kureru”), one of the Japanese verbs in the category giving and receiving, has ‘irony(hiniku) usage’. The corresponding Korean, ｢-a/e cwuta(-아/어주다, -テクレル)｣(hereinafter, “e cwuta”) is also used in the ironical sense ‘irony(hiniku) usage’. However, the ‘irony(hiniku) usage’ of ｢-te kureru｣ and ｢-a/e cwuta｣ has only been discussed to a limited extent in previous studies. This study asserts the difference in the mechanism of the ‘irony(hiniku) usage’ of both languages in connection with the ‘benefactive(onkei) usage’ of ｢-te kureru｣ and ｢-e cwuta｣. In regard to the intention of the giver in the situation, as expressed by the preceding verb, ｢-te kureru｣ is entirely unrelated to the intention of the giver but there is a limit to the use of ｢-e cwuta｣ when the intention of the giver is not presumed. Furthermore, with respect to the ‘irony(hiniku) usage’, it can be found that the intention of the giver is added to the sentence where ｢-e cwuta｣ is used. Given the forgoing, in ‘irony(hiniku) usage’, ｢-te kureru｣ gives rise to irony as the speaker uses a grateful expression for an ungrateful situation, whereas ｢-e cwuta｣ leads to irony by sneering at the intention and effort of the giver who is the subject of the preceding verb.　　

한국어

일본어 수수동사의 하나인 ｢te kureru(〜てくれる)｣에는 <역설적 용법>이 있다. 그 리고 그에 대응한다고 하는 한국어 ｢아/어 주다a/e cwuta(〜テクレル)｣(이하, ｢어 주다｣)에도 <역설적 용법>이 있으나 종래의 선행연구에서는 ｢-te kureru(〜てくれる)｣ 와 ｢-어 주다｣의 <역설적 용법>에 관해서는 그다지 논의되고 있지 않다. 본고에서 는 ｢-te kureru(〜てくれる)｣와 ｢-어 주다｣의 <은혜 용법>과 관련지어 양언어의 <역설 적 용법>의 메커니즘에 주목해 그 차이를 주장하였다. ｢-te kureru(〜てくれる)｣와 ｢-어 주다｣의 <은혜 용법>에서 선행동사가 나타내는 사태에 대한 수여자의 의도를 살 펴보면 ｢-te kureru(〜てくれる)｣는 수여자의 의도와 관련이 없으나 ｢-어 주다｣는 수 여자의 의도가 상정되지 않는 장면에서는 사용에 제약이 있다. 그리고 <역설적 용 법>에서도 ｢-어 주다｣가 사용된 문에 수여자의 의도성이 더해짐을 알 수 있다. 이 점으로 보아 <역설적 용법>의 ｢-te kureru(〜てくれる)｣는 고맙지 않은 상황에 대하여 화자가 고마운 상황으로 나타내는 것에 의해 역설적인 뉘앙스(irony)가 발생하지만, ｢-어 주다｣는 선행동사의 행위를 행하는 수여자의 의도와 수고를 비꼬는 것으로 역 설적인 뉘앙스(irony)가 발생되고 있다고 할 수 있다.
