Today young generation are victimized by the neo-liberalistic capitalism system in the world. They are treated like a disposable waste in labor market, and they their own life for future because of instability of housing and health. More serious thing in Korean society is that the social discourse concerning this issue is not enough and it is not easy for them to participate actively in public discussion. Christian youth’s situation is not different from that. In terms of pastoral care, Church leadership would regard them as the resource for Church development. Therefore, to form the public space for theological discourse mentioning the social reality that they are facing with, is so difficult in Korean Church. This study brings up the subject of ‘Youth Theology’ rarely raised so far in theology. Even though following the tradition of contextual theology that has been depending for their right of women, black people, min-joong(grassroots), ‘Youth Theology’ needs public theological approach to consider young generation’s socio-political reality in this pluralistic civil context. Taking part in discussion of the public sphere in civil society, ‘Youth Theology’ should go beyond Church-centered perspective to found out the real picture of the issue including the socio-political interpretation. Above all, this study tries to examine the possibility of‘Youth Theology’ with reflecting critically the social discourse and Christian discourse in Church concerning this issue. And then, the practical methodology for Youth Theology in the Korean Church context would be proposed on this paper as a conclusion. This paper could contribute to develop the public theological engagement of Korean Church in the young generation issue.

전 세계적으로 청년들은 신자유주의경제 체제의 희생자가 되고 있다. 노동시장에서는 일회용으로 취급받고, 주거와 보건이 불안하여 미래의 삶을 계획하기가 어렵다. 더욱 심각한 것은 이 문제를 다루는 사회적 공론장도 빈약하고 청년이 주체적으로 참여하기 어렵다는 것이다. 이런 상황은 교회에서도 마찬가지이다. 교회는 그들을 관리와 돌봄의 대상으로 여긴다. 그래서 교회 안에서 청년들의 사회적 현실을 다루는 신학적 담론이 형성되기 어렵다. 이런 관점에서 본 연구는 ‘청년신학’의 필요성을 제기한다. 특히 시민사회의 다양한 입장과 대화하며 형성하는 구성적(constructive) 공공신학의 관점을 토대로 청년이 ‘청년신학’의 논의에 참여하는 방법론이 필요하다. 청년의 사회적 현실을 신학적으로 성찰하기 위해서 내부적 시각을 넘어 사회적 담론과 대화해야 하며 공론장에 참여할 수 있어야 하기 때문이다. 공공신학은 전통적인 신학 방법론으로 응답하기 어려운 사안에 대해 새로운 방법으로 대안을 모색하려고 한다는 점에서 적절한 방법론이 된다. 이를 위해 청년문제를 다루는 사회적 담론과 기독교계의 대응을 비판적으로 성찰하고, ‘청년신학’의 필요성을 확인한다. 공공신학적 ‘청년신학’의 방법론을 제안하고자 한국사회에서 제안되는 대안들을 참고하고, 이에 참여할 수 있는 실천적 방안들을 기독교윤리학적 전망에서 제시하고자 한다. 기초적이지만 ‘청년신학’을 공공신학적 방법론으로 제기한다는 점에서 그 의미를 둘 수 있겠다.
