The scripture is the most basic and fundamental criteria in Christian saith and theology. Although this methodology based on the scripture is distorted as a lettrism or fundamentalism, the importance of the scripture is still predominant among the Catholic Church, diverse Protestant denominations and many other Christian traditions for their theological orthodoxy and spiritual growth. Furthermore, this fact about the scripture is not limited to its contents itself. The process of the canonization as a whole also shows that various historical backgrounds have been included within the Bible and this situation implies that the scripture has the profound meanings beyond a simple mixture of many letters and texts. By this token, the scripture gains a decisive power for the formation of the Christian community’s identity and it functions to provide true worth and meaning toward all Christian theology and ministerial spirituality. This study begins from this fact about the scripture and attempts to discover the same possibility of some detailed methodologies in the contemporary society. This is based on a historical fact regarding the scripture’s canonizing procedure which many different elements made various fusion for the solid confirmation of Christian teachings and its application in spirituality. While the scripture gives a biblical foundation and core values for ultimate direction of Christian spirituality, spirituality have been providing hermeneutic ways and indicative insights for practical application. This mutual chemistry is not only working in the past, but still strongly effective in the present context. Among many complex factors in the 21st century such as secularism and postmodernism, this study can be a medium to find a motive and excuse to regain vitality from both the scripture and spirituality for both practical theology and Christian theology as a whole.

기독교는 주요 영역의 정당성 확보를 위해 성경의 권위를 가장 중요한 잣대로 내 세운다. 때로 이런 성경 중심적 접근방식이 과도한 문자주의나 성경주의 또는 근본주 의의 폐해로 변질되기도 하지만, 로마 가톨릭교회와 종교개혁 전통은 물론 다양한 기 독교 전통들은 자신들의 신학적 정통성과 영적 성숙을 강조하는 논리적 토대로 성경 을 전면에 내세우길 주저하지 않는다. 여기서 성경이 여러 기독교 전통의 가장 중요 한 근거로 작용한다는 사실은 그 내용에 국한되지 않는다. 성경의 기록과 수집, 전승 과 정경화 과정 역시 이미 구약과 신약 시대를 아우르는 다양한 역사적 경험을 포함 하며 그를 통해 성경은 단순한 글자들의 조합과 배열을 넘어서는 심오한 의미와 권위 를 획득한다. 이로써 성경은 그 내용과 형식 모두에서 신앙 공동체의 정체성 형성에 결정적인 영향력을 지니며, 기독교 신학과 영성, 목회 등에 의미와 가치를 부여하는 기능을 수행한다. 본 연구는 성경을 중심으로 형성된 기독교회 안팎의 다양한 요소들이 현대 사회에 도 여전히 공감대를 형성할 수 있는지에 관한 질의로부터 시작하며, 영성을 통해 그 해답을 찾는 방법론을 선택한다. 이는 초기교회 시절부터 기독교 영성의 토대가 성경 이었다는 역사적 사실로부터 기인하며, 성경의 내용과 형성과정에 나타난 요소들이 영성의 핵심가치 형성에서도 동일한 방식으로 상존하면서 서로에게 필요충분조건으로 작용함을 전제한다. 즉 성경은 기독교 영성의 근거와 방향을 결정하는 정체성의 핵심 요소들을 제공하는 반면, 영성은 성경 내용의 해석 방식과 실제 적용 과정에서의 지 침들을 규정하는 역할을 수행하고 있음을 의미한다. 성경과 영성 사이에 발생하는 상호작용은 과거에 종결된 사안이 아니며 현대사회 에도 여전히 효과를 야기하는 기독교 신학의 중요한 방법론적 기재이다. 다원화와 세 속화와 같은 사상적 변화와 예측 불가한 인구학적 요소들, 시시각각 변모하는 문화적 현상들 속에서 교회는 잃어버린 활력과 존재가치를 되찾을 명분과 동기를 성경과 영 성에서 찾을 수 있으며 본 연구는 이런 사실이 실천신학 뿐 아니라 기독교 신학 전체 에 활력을 불어넣을 수 있음을 강조한다.
