This study aimed at examining the trend of Korean studies on music education through the analysis of the Journal of Music Application Studies and the Journal of Music Education Science, which were published by the Korean Music Education Society, and based on this, presenting the task and prospect of Korean studies on music education. To this end, focusing on research subject, method and area, this study examined a total of 17 studies from the Music Application Studies and 179 studies in total from the Music Education Science, which were published from 2012 to 2016, to compare and analyze the trend of the studies. According to the results, in terms of research method, historic and philosophical studies were decreasing, while the proportion of experimental, descriptive and qualitative studies was increasing. In terms of research area, studies on psychological area declined, but studies on new theories and teaching methods in the aspect of music curriculum and music teaching method increased. Furthermore, it was found that studies on new areas including popular music, after school activities, integrated education and multi-culture were carried out.

본 연구는 한국음악응용학회와 한국음악교육공학회에서 출판되는 ‘음악응용연구’와 ‘음악 교육공학’ 등 두 개의 학술지의 분석을 통하여 국내의 음악교육 연구 동향을 살펴보고 이를 토대로 우리나라 음악교육 연구의 과제와 전망을 제시하고자 하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 2012년부터 2016년까지 게재된 ‘음악응용연구’에서 총 17편과 ‘음악교육공학’에서 총 179편과 편의 논문들을 대상으로 연구대상, 연구방법, 연구영역에 초점을 두어 연구동향을 비 교ㆍ분석하였다. 연구결과 연구방법은 역사적 연구와 철학적 연구는 감소하고 있지만 실험, 서술, 질적 연구의 비중이 증가하고 있었다. 연구영역에 있어서는 음악과 교수방법에 관한 연 구의 감소와 더불어 음악과 교육과정, 음악교육 심리영역의 연구가 증가하였다. 또한, 대중음 악, 방과 후 활동, 통합교육, 다문화 등 새로운 영역의 연구가 다양하게 수행되었음을 볼 수 있었다.
