This study aims to plot a suitable methodology model of translational hermeneutics of commentaries on Confucian Classics from Joseon dynasty and to propose that the characteristics and values of Juyeok-seokui (a part of Gyungseo-seokui), which have particular and exalted status amongst Korean traditional commentaries on Confucian Classics in Joseon dynasty can be implemented more effectively by applying this model. In specific analyzation of Juyeok-seokui, we mainly focus on its writing character, its different text versions, and its translational hermeneutics’ hallmarks. With regards to its written character, we prescribed Juyeok-seokui’s compilation course as an ongoing and open discussion space. we were also able to demonstrate that there are several revisions evident in the course of reprinting Juyeok-seokui texts in the way of shaving off, carving up, or reorganizing the certain part of letters on the previous wood-block in order to modify errors. From the translational hermeneutics’ point of view, we focus on the compiler’s reviewing tendency to pre-interpreters’ translations, and the compiler’s flow of consciousness to grasp the intention of the pre-interpreters by following the insignificant clues in the pre-seokui, and “multiple interpretation spaces”. This research is a part of the study aiming at investigating the delicacy of translational hermeneutic thoughts reflected on Confucian Classics’ commentaries in Joseon dynasty. By further deepening this study, we expect to review not only the context of Lee Hwang’s Gyungseo-seokui as a whole, but also the history of the translational hermeneutics of Confucian Classics’ commentaries in the Joseon dynasty in the near future.

본 연구는 한국의 특성에 맞는 유가경전관련 주석 연구를 효과적으로 진행하기 위해 경전 주석 번역해석학이란 연구방법론의 모델을 상정하고, 이를 적용해 한국 유가경전 주석 가운데 중요한 위상을 지닌, 이황의 『경서석의』중 『주역석의』에 접근할 때 텍스트의 특징과 의의가 보다 효과적으로 구현될 수 있음을 제시하는 데 주요 목적이 있다. 『주역석의』에 대해서는 저술 성격 및 판본 상황과 번역해석학적 특징을 중심으로 고찰하였 다. 저술 성격에 대해서는 “진행형의 열려 있는 논의 공간”으로 규정하고, ‘판본’ 면에서는 주 역석의 목판본 간의 차이를 비교하여 간인 과정에서 체제⋅판각 오류 및 ‘구 석의’ 인용을 중심으로 한 수정 작업이 있었음을 일부 소개하였다. 번역해석학의 각도에서는, 기존 석의의 검토 양상, 석의자의 인식을 읽어내려는 면모 및 다중해석 공간에 주목하였다. 본 연구는 조선시대 유가경전주석의 번역⋅해석에 담긴 섬세한 고민과 사고들을 번역해석 학의 각도에서 심층적으로 읽어내기 위한 연구의 일환이다. 본 연구를 보다 심화시켜 나아간다 면 이황뿐 아니라 조선시대 유가경전주석 번역해석사의 발전 맥락을 체계적으로 고찰해 나아가 는 데 일정한 참고가 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
