In this paper we analyze the symbolic mechanisms with which Mexican migrants in South Korea maintain an identity negotiation that allows them to locate their place in the world. Through life narratives obtained in interviews with migrants of three years or more of stay in Korea, we analyze the challenges they face in the process of intercultural integration, particularly their responses and strategies to maintain an anchorage of belonging with Mexico and/or with the host country.

En este trabajo se analizan los mecanismos simbolicos con los cuales migrantes mexicanos en Corea mantienen una negociacion identitaria que les permita ubicar su lugar en el mundo. A traves de narrativas de vida obtenidas en entrevistas con migrantes de tres anos o mas de estancia en Corea, se observaran los retos a los que se enfrentan en el proceso de integracion intercultural, particularmente sus respuestas y estrategias para mantener un anclaje de pertenencia con Mexico y/o con el pais receptor.

    본 연구소는 설립 이래 인문ㆍ사회과학의 모든 분야에 걸쳐 스페인ㆍ포르투갈어 권역의 지역문제에 대한 심층적 연구활동을 수행하여 왔고, 해외의 유관기관과 협력관계를 구축하여 학문적 발전은 물론 이 지역과의 관계 확대를 위한 실천적 지역연구를 활성화시키는 데 중요한 일익을 담당해왔다. 본 연구소는 이들 지역의 연구에 필요한 관련 자료들을 수집ㆍ보존함은 물론, 국내외 학자들이 참여하는 각종 학술대회와 정기 세미나를 개최함으로써 이 지역 연구를 활성화하는 데 노력을 기울이고 있다. 이 외에 본 연구소에서 발간하는 정기간행물인 『이베로아메리카硏究』는 국내외의 관련 분야 연구논문을 심사, 선별해서 게재함으로써, 스페인, 포르투갈 및 라틴아메리카 지역에 대한 활발한 연구를 선도하고 있다.
