The purpose of this thesis is to reveal the regularization and feature of dawn prayer from 1930s to 1956. The studies on the dawn prayer of Korean Protestantism have been done by some scholars. The beginning of dawn prayer and the process of development by 1930 were studied. It has not been treated that dawn prayer meeting was regularized as a daily event after 1930. Therefore, this study is a new try that has not been treated. This study treats that daily dawn prayer meeting was regularized in Korea Evangelical Holiness Church from 1930 to independence in 1945. And It treats that daily dawn prayer meeting was regularized in the whole church after the Korean War. And this study ascertains the inner feature of dawn prayer was expanded into the public feature for the state and society after the Korean War. The connection between the Korean war and Protestant dawn prayer is important topic in this study. This study methodology is literature research. The then various materials of Protestant circle are collected, for examples Protestant newspapers and general assembly records about dawn prayer. And popular newspapers, memoirs of Protestants, etc are collected. Through these, this study takes a view of a then state of dawn prayer wholly.

본 논문의 목적은 1930년대부터 1956년까지의 새벽기도의 정례화의 과정과 그 특징을 드러내는 것이다. 한국 개신교의 새벽기도에 대한 연구는 여러 학자들에 의해 진행되었다. 새벽기도의 시초와 1930년까지의 발전과정과 특징은 연구되어졌다. 1930년 이후 새벽기도회가 개교회의 매일의 행사로 정례화 된 것을 다루는 연구는 아직 진행되지 않았다. 그러므로 본 연구는 학계에서 다루어지지 않은 새로운 시도이다. 본 연구는 1930년 이후부터 해방 전까지 성결교회의 매일새벽기도회가 정례화 되는 것을 다룬다. 6·25 전쟁 이후 전교회적으로 매일새벽기도회가 정례화 되는 것을 다룬다. 그리고 전쟁 이후 새벽기도의 성격이 개신교 내적인 주제에서 국가와 사회를 위한 공적인 성격으로 확장되는 것도 확인한다. 6·25 전쟁과 개신교 새벽기도의 연관성은 이 연구에서 중요한 주제이다. 본 논문의 연구 방법론은 문헌연구이다. 당시 개신교 신문들, 각 교파의 총회록 등 교계의 자료들 분 아니라 일반신문과 수기 등 다양한 기록들을 수집한다. 이것을 통해 당시 새벽기도의 모습을 전체적으로 조망한다.
