The purpose of this study was to classify the characteristics of abnormal motive offenders according to the types of crime. Abnormal Motive Crime is not a legal concept, we conducted a sentencing analysis to check the current situation as a specific crime. Therefore, we analyze the abnormal motive crime behavior characteristics by analyzing the concept, characteristics, cause and type of the precedent research from the point of time when the court judged the judgment which can objectively analyze the abnormal motive crime. The analytical data are analyzed empirically through the sentencing data from 2003 to present.The empirical research on the abnormal motive crime was divided into the characteristics of individual, society, and criminal behavior and crime between consenting individuals. The selected variables were statistically analyzed to analyze behavioral characteristics. The results of the study show that the abnormal motive criminals are dissatisfied with the "home environment" among various characteristics and do not have social control just before the crime. In addition, at the time of the crime, it can be seen that the crime is carried out several times in order to use the tool which can cause a fatal injury to the life to be threatened. Thus,abnormal motive crime is cruel, and they can not predict crime.

이 연구의 목적은 이상동기 범죄자의 특성들을 죄종간 유형에 따라 구분하고자 하였다. 이상동기 범죄는 법적 개념이 아니기 때문에 특정한 범죄로써 현황을 살펴볼 수 있는 판결문 분석을 진행하였다. 따라서 이상동기 범죄에 대한 분석을 객관적으로 살펴볼 수 있는 판결문을법원이 판단한 시점으로부터 분석을 시작하여 선행연구의 개념과 특성, 원인, 유형을 구분하여 이상동기 범죄 행동특성을 분석하였다. 분석자료는 각급 법원의 1심 판결문을 2003년부터 현재까지의 자료를 통해 실증적으로 분석하였다. 이상동기 범죄에 대한 경험적 연구는 개인·사회·범죄행동 특성과 죄종간의 범죄로 구분하여 분석이 진행되었다. 그리고 선정된 변수들은 행동특성을 분석하기 위해 통계적 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 이상동기 범죄자들이 다양한 특성 중 “가정환경”에 불만을 품고, 범행 직전에는 사회적 통제가 되지 않는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 또한 범행 당시에는 신체에 치명상을 입힐수 있는 도구를 사용하여 생명에 위협이 되도록 수회에 걸쳐 범행을 저지르는 것으로 볼 수있다. 이처럼 이상동기 범죄는 잔혹성을 띄고 있음과 동시에 범죄에 대한 예측을 할 수 없다는 문제를 낳고 있음을 알 수 있다.
